Students use technology to analyze and implement business solutions. The four courses include: computers, networks, and databases; design for the digital world; databases in the cloud; and developing a cloud presence. Students will apply core college-ready academic skills to complete projects. Industry certifications and college credit may be earned. Agribusiness Systems Technology Agribusiness Systems Technology is recommended to students who wish to study agriculture, business, and management techniques. The program is designed to enable students to become successful in owning and operating a business. Topics covered include business organizational structures, legal and financial aspects of agripreneurship, and marketing. Authentic learning opportunities are provided through project based learning. Automotive Technology Automotive Technology provides instruction in the fundamentals of the automotive repair industry. The presentation of the course material is designed to describe the purpose, function, construction, design, operation, and maintenance of automotive systems. Students will learn to diagnose and service automotive components. Industry certifications may be earned. Building Operations This concentration focuses on careers that maintain safe and productive environments. Students will build skill sets in the areas of materials handling, masonry techniques, exterior finishing, roofing applications, electrical services and electrical safety. Students will engage in problem solving and participate in hands on learning activities. NCCER certification may be earned. Careers in Education/Tomorrow’s Teachers This innovative program is designed to attract talented students to the teaching profession. The program provides high school students with insight concerning the nature of teaching and the critical issues affecting education. Observation placements are incorporated to provide practical experience. College credit may be earned. Carpentry The Carpentry concentration focuses on careers that will build a knowledge base and technical skills in all aspects of building processes. Learners will be exposed to a broad range of construction careers and foundation knowledge including basic safety; plan reading; use of tools and equipment; and how to employ positive work ethics. Students may earn NCCER certification for mastering skill sets. Collision Repair Technology Collision Repair is designed to provide skills in auto body and fender repair. Students receive instruction regarding structural and nonstructural analysis, damage repair, mechanical and electrical components, plastics, adhesives, painting, and refinishing. Industry certifications may be earned. Computer Support Specialist The Computer Support Specialist program is a ten month program for adult students. Students may earn CompTIA certifications. Fundamentals of computer systems will be explored along with network and server essentials. Work based integration of technical skills and internship opportunities are available. Computer Systems Repair Technology Computer Systems Repair Technology covers preliminary electronics, introduction to soldering, introduction to computer operating systems, and some application software. Students will exercise problem solving and technical skills. Certifications that may be obtained include: A+, Network+, INet+, and INet Security. Cosmetology Completion of the 1,800 hour program qualifies individuals to sit for the WV Board of Barbers and Cosmetologists examination. After completing 500 hours, students are transitioned to the salon setting and learn by performing services for clients under a certified Instructor of Cosmetology. Adult and high school students may enroll. Dental Assisting/Allied Health Sciences Adult students complete 1,080 hours of study regarding infection control, oral health, anatomy, radiology, practice management, and 300 clinical hours. Certification may be obtained upon graduating from the program and passing the DANB exam. The adult program is accredited by the CDA. A grade average of 80% is required. Drafting Drafting or Computer Assisted Design and Drafting (CADD) is a program of study designed for any student with an interest in learning to operate an automated design and drafting tool. Basic knowledge of tools may be applied to disciplines that involve design and engineering. Drafting is a hands-on course using the latest technology. Students may earn college credit. Electrical Technician Electrical Technician is a ten month Journeyman Electrician’s Training Program for adult students. It is designed to provide students with skills in all phases of electricity – residential, industrial, and commercial. Certification may be obtained upon graduating from the program and passing the WV State Electrician Exam. Energy and Power This advanced career curriculum will introduce students to careers in energy and power industries. Students will research, design, and build projects to enable them to understand the interplay of the generation, distribution, and use of energy. Students will apply math, science, and technical skills in preparation for postsecondary education and the workplace. Industry certifications and college credit may be earned. Graphic Design The program is designed for students with an interest in using their creative talent to produce art for commercial use or advertising. Graphic Design will introduce the basic concepts of graphic advertising and publication, animation graphics, desktop publishing, multimedia presentations, and three dimensional modeling. Machine Tool Technology The objective of this program of study is to provide a primary level of essential skills and knowledge to individuals interested in pursuing a career in Machine Technology. Students design and manufacture simple products such as nuts and bolts to more complex products using a variety of metals and machinery. Students will apply technical skills in measuring and operating drill press, metal lathe, and milling machinery. Industry certifications may be earned. Marketing Management: Sports, Entertainment & Recreation Marketing Management introduces students to career options in the field of Sports, Entertainment, and Recreation Marketing. Courses required for completion of the program include Marketing Principles, Marketing Applications, Business and Marketing Essentials, and Recreation Marketing. Students will design logos, create advertisements, determine prices for products and services, and calculate profit margins. Industry certifications may be earned. Practical Nursing The Practical Nursing Program is structured to prepare adult students for careers as Practical Nurses. The curriculum is divided into units of study including theory and clinical practice. Students will prepare for licensure examination. Clinical rotations are arranged in a variety of health care settings. Career training is accomplished within one year. Pre-Engineering/Project Lead the Way Pre-engineering, also known as Project Lead the Way, is designed to provide an intense and hands-on knowledge of engineering skills. The PLTW program provides a flexible curriculum where students are learning the latest information while utilizing the newest technology. Program completers may earn college credit. Project STRIVE and LIFE Wellness These programs are designed to provide students real world knowledge and skills in a variety of hospitality and service industry settings. The courses incorporate hands-on experience at job sites and in the classroom. Goals promote development of a positive work ethic that can be applied to any job or work environment. Therapeutic Services/Health Occupations This program is designed for students who desire to pursue a career in health care. Students must complete three core courses plus a clinical experience. A minimum course completion score of 80% is required to continue in program. Clinical experiences may be completed in various work based settings. Students may earn Nursing Assistant certification. Welding Welding Technology is designed to teach students safety, basic metal properties, welding defects, basic shielded metal arc welding, basic gas metal welding, basic gas tungsten arc welding, blueprint reading, robotic and automated welding cutting. Students will prepare for American Welding Society Welder Certification. Students may acquire multiple industry certifications. Updated June 2015
