Bamboo: The state has formulated a separate “State Bamboo Policy” for
integrated development of this sector, covering both plantation and processing.
IT&C -- Resource-based Industries
Handloom, Handicrafts and Sericulture:
• 2nd largest employment 27,000 weavers ; 11,000 handicrafts artisans; and 7500
sericulturists
Handicrafts: Women’s handicrafts project 2,500 beneficiaries by forming 10 clusters
• Common facility center for processing & production of handicrafts at Indranagar
• infrastructure development of Handicrafts under IIUS through WEBCON
• Export-promotion project has been implemented with the help of EPCH
Handloom: 29 clusters ; Common infrastructure in 24 clusters
• Two yarn banks have been set up at Agartala ; extile Testing Laboratory
• A new composite handloom Marketing complex set up at Agartala.
• Project for design development with involvement of Mumbai designers.
Sericulture: Special Women Sericulture Projects in all districts
• Grainage set up for management of Disease Free Laying (DFLs) at Indranagar.
