1. Greetings and Introduction
1-1 I can greet people in Chinese, such as “Hello”, “How are you?”, “Goodbye”, etc.
1-2 I can express “thanks” and “you’re welcome” in Chinese.
1-3 I can introduce myself, including name and age in Chinese.
1-4 I can sing the song of “Hello” in Chinese.
1-5 I can sing the song of “ What’s your name, my friend” in Chinese.
2. Numbers
2-1 I can count from 1-20.
2-2 I can name the days of the week from Monday to Sunday in Chinese.
2-3 I can sing the song of “Where is my friend” in Chinese.
2-4 I can sing the song of “Two Tigers” in Chinese.
3. Family members
3-1 I can name family members in Chinese, such as grandpa, grandma, dad, mom,
big brother, little brother, big sister, little sister.
3-2 I can introduce my family members in Chinese, such as “This is my dad”.
3-3 I can sing the song of “I love my family” in Chinese.
3-4 I can sing the song of “Happy Birthday” in Chinese.
4. Parts of the body
4-1 I can name the parts of the body in Chinese.
4-2 I can say some verbs in Chinese, such as see, listen, smell, walk, run, jump, etc.
4-3 I can name the directions in Chinese, such as left, right, up, down, front, behind,
etc.
4-4 I can sing the song of “Head, Shoulders, Knees and Feet” in Chinese.
5. Introduction of Chinese New Year and Zodiac animals
5-1 I can name the zodiac animals in Chinese.
5-2 I can name the zodiac animals in proper order.
5-3 I can tell the story about Chinese zodiac animals.
5-3 I can sing the song of “Zodiac Animals” in Chinese.
5-4 I can sing the song of “ Coming of New Year” in Chinese.
6. Four seasons
6-1 I can name the four seasons in Chinese.
6-2 I can say some words related to weather such as warm, cold, hot, cool, etc. in
Chinese.
6-3 I can read the nursery rhymes “Spring is warm, summer is hot, fall is cool,
winter is cold” in Chinese.
7. Color
7-1 I can name the primary colors in Chinese, such as red, yellow, blue, white,
black, orange, brown, pink, green, purple, etc.
7-2 I can ask “What color is it” and answer “It is…color” in Chinese.
7-3 I can say “ I like…color” in Chinese.
7-4 I can read the nursery rhymes “Spring is coming” in Chinese.
7-5 I can sing the song “I am…”

September: Introduction and Greeting
•
-- say hello, thank you and good-bye.
•
-- introduce themselves.
•
-- locate China on the world map.
•
-- identify the flag of China.
•
-- identify Chinese characters as the writing system of the Chinese language.
•
-- recognize that Pinyin is a method of writing Chinese words with letters to help
students learn how to pronounce words.

Chinese Traditional Festival
•
--September 10th is Teachers’ Day
•
--Chinese Mid—Autumn Festival
October: Numbers
•
-- count from one to one hundred.
•
-- recognize and write the characters for numbers 1-10.
•
-- Student can ask and answer : How old are you ?I’m------ (你几岁?我---岁)
•
How old is he/she? 她/他几岁?
•
-- sing the number song: Where is my friend?
•
-- name and identify seven days of the week.
•
-- name and identify 12 months and will be able to do a daily report.
November: Family
•
-- name their immediate family members.
•
-- form simple sentences to say they love their family members.

December and January: 12 Chinese Zodiacs and Chinese Spring Festival

-- explain the difference between the Lunar New Year and the Gregorian New Year
and that the Lunar New Year is on a different day every year.

-- recount the story about the zodiac animals and can sing the 12 zodiac song:
鼠,牛,虎,兔,龙,蛇,马,羊,猴,鸡,狗,猪,十二生肖,十二生肖。
•
