Welcome/Introduction
Scenario 1: Did I Get the Job? by Kaitlyn O’Conner
(…and will include list of actors)
4. Questions: Did I Get the Job?
 Evaluate the effectiveness with which
Rebecca provided verbal responses to the
interview questions. What could she do to
improve her responses?
 Nonverbal communication is everything
except for the raw verbal content of
messages (for instance, clothing, gestures,
posture, time, and tone of voice are all
considered nonverbal elements). Did you
notice any nonverbal communication
behaviors that seemed to contribute to the
negative outcome in this scene? How do you
think Melissa (the mother) perceived
Rebecca (the nanny candidate)? Describe
how Rebecca could have improved her
nonverbal communication.
 How do you think your Christian faith might
lead you to choose communication
behaviors that were different from what you
saw the actors portray in this scene? In other
words, what are some principles that would
inform your behaviors?

include list of actors)
7. Questions: The Intern
 In what ways did the power differences among
the producer, the disgruntled co-host, and the
intern create negative communication
outcomes? How could the intern improve his
verbal and nonverbal responses to his
colleagues in this scene?
 This scene obviously displayed some
problematic workplace gossip. Describe
why the gossip was destructive. How could
the producer and the disgruntled co-host
communicate differently in order to address
the issues they had with the other co-host?
 The station you saw in this scene was a
challenging, sometimes negative
organizational environment for the
Christian intern. As a Christian, do you
think you would or could work in an
atmosphere like this one? Why or why not?

will include list of actors)
10. Questions: Mumbo Jumbo
 In what ways did Pam’s status as a Messiah
College student shape Mr. Landis’ and Stacy’s
perceptions about her? How could Pam have
responded more effectively to their
assumptions?
 This scene revealed just how difficult it can be to
communicate to a superior who has just
offended you. Brainstorm some more effective
ways for the intern to respond.
 After Pam’s first incident with Mr. Landis, she
went to Stacy for support. However, she
quickly discovered that Stacy held similar
stereotypes of Christians and that Stacy might
not be a trustworthy confidant. How could
Pam respond more effectively to the conflict
that emerged?
