JAPANESE 2 CLASS POLICIES AND CONTENT Mrs. Bourassa In this class you will be learning how to communicate in Japanese through writing, reading, speaking and listening. You will learn two Japanese writing systems: Katakana and Kanji. You will also be learning Japanese culture and customs through activities, class discussions, guest speakers, videos, and field trips. Japanese 2 consists of two trimesters. Each trimester grade will be comprised of an 80% term grade and a final exam weighted at 20%. Term Grades: (80% of the total grade) 65% tests/quizzes/projects 25% assigned homework/class work 10% participation Grading Scale A+ 100-99 A 98-94 A93-90 B+ 89-88 B 87-83 B82-80 C+ C CD+ D D- 79-78 77-73 72-70 69-68 67-63 62-60 F 59-0 CLASSWORK AND HOMEWORK POLICY 1. All homework and assignments are due the next day that class meets, unless I give you an extension. 2. You will be given ample time to complete class work or you may be required to finish class work as homework. 3. All homework is due at the beginning of class, or it receives late credit. 4. Late work will receive 80% credit if it is turned in before the end of the class period. 5. All other late work will receive reduced credit depending upon the length of time between the assigned due date and the actual date the assignment is submitted. 6. Copying homework or class work is considered cheating, and both parties involved will receive zero credit on the assignment. 7. Students who miss multiple assignments may be assigned homework detentions to complete assignments and improve his or her grade. 8. Grades for participation include class discussions, group activities, viewing videos, note taking, and class preparation. ATTENDANCE AND MAKE UP WORK If an absence is unavoidable, please be aware that you MUST obtain assignments as soon as you return to class. 1. Hand in all assignments that were due on the date of your absence. Be sure to write “ABSENT” at the top of your assignment so it is not marked down for being late. 2. If you were absent the day a test or quiz was given, make arrangements to schedule a time to complete the test or quiz you missed. The best times to schedule a missed test or quiz are after school or during lunch. I do not allow missed tests to be taken during class time. Any work or test given during an unexcused absence will not be allowed to be made up.
