1.) 91.3 The Summit

Organization Description: 91.3 The Summit is Akron-Canton's home for true music diversity now serving the Youngstown area at 90.7! We are locally owned and operated, member
supported public radio. The Summit plays a wide variety of music, including Rock, Pop, Folk,
Acoustic, Local, Reggae, and much more.
Position: Radio Intern
Compensation: Unpaid
Job Description: The internship position will consist of the following five parts:
 Part 1: Public Service and Community - learn to write Public Service Announcements for
the radio station; help with general office duties (stuffing envelopes, organization, etc.;
assist with station and member events
 Part 2: Membership and Underwriting - help with/observe monthly membership
mailings; help with/observe monthly underwriter billing; observe building and editing of
daily program logs; help with member premium mailings
 Part 3: Marketing and Events - assist in implementing new media marketing strategies
through improving web design, using e-mail promotion, direct mail, billboard, and nontraditional public relations categories; follow-up on the advertising and marketing
effectiveness using tools for measuring and ensuring the station’s return on investment;
work with area non-profit organizations to explore potential collaborations, and track onair public service announcements; assist in passing out marketing materials at area events
 Part 4: Programming and Production - observe recording of weather breaks and Public
Service Announcements; observe merging of station logs; prep and decommission station
vehicle and gear for remote events; observe DJs in the studio as they record their shows
 Part 5: Music - help monitor music charts for song research; sort new music CDs
· Help prepare weekly playlist reports for email; compile information on new artists for
the DJs
Interns will also take a one-day field trip to our transmitter site with our engineer, and will be
expected to assist with station events and studio performances that happen during the course of
the internship.
2.) American Red Cross of the Mahoning Valley

Organization Description: The Mahoning Chapter of the American Red Cross was chartered in
August, 1910. For 100 years, the Chapter has upheld the mission of providing disaster
relief, support to military families and educating members of the Community.
Position: Marketing Intern

Job Description: Using a web-based national Brand Central Platform the intern will customize
local marketing materials for distribution to Mahoning Valley media and the community at large.
Duties will include but not be limited to:
 Update media lists
 Learn to navigate brand central
 Attend staff meetings as requested
 Assist with web page updates
 Create and distribute press releases and PSA’s under supervision
 Other duties as requested including maintaining a professional demeanor and adhere to
American Red Cross Code of Conduct
Work Schedule: Our office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The
schedule will be determined by the student’s availability.

Organization Description: Full Measure Development Group (FMDG) is a private, for-profit
entity that is committed to meet the comprehensive development needs of our nonprofit
customers.
Position: Development Intern
Pay: $8/hour for 15 to 20 hours per week
Job Description: Responsibilities for an intern include the following:
 Completion of fund searches using FMDG grant-seeking search engines and other
resources
 Development of "standard" grant proposals to meet the needs of various non profit
customers
 Assistance with the preparation of proposals to government proposals
 Assistance with branding and marketing activities - including brochure, website and
social networking development
 Participation in group idea creation sessions for the benefit of customers
 Assistance with special event planning and implementation
 Participation in individual donor development sessions
 Other development activities as deemed appropriate for the FMDG customers
Qualifications: The ability to "think outside the box;" ability to work independently as well as
in a team setting; ability to use Microsoft Office products. Training in all aspects of
development will be provided.

Position: Foundation Intern

Job Description: The intern will be responsible for supporting the mission of the HMHP
Development Foundation by assisting with various projects throughout the Foundation including
but not limited to:
 Work with Events Administrator on special events and meeting planning which may
include a golf outing, a run event, cocktail parties, wine tasting, and recognition events.
 Assist Database Administrator with input and report generating in DonorPerfect.
 Assist with the publishing and distribution of Foundation Newsletter.
 Help to coordinate and track Annual Appeal efforts.
Qualifications: Hold or in the process of obtaining a degree in Business, Communications,
Marketing, Public Relations or like field. Basic knowledge of MS Office (word, excel, etc.).
Strong written and oral communication skills. Must be honest and reliable worker. Flexible
schedule within work week (Monday – Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm), some evening and
weekends required

Organization Description: Inspiring Minds, a nonprofit outreach organization, promotes the
development of youth and adolescent dreams by exposure to new experiences. Encouraging a

resulting in overall growth and accomplishment. Organization is expanding and looking for
potential new staff members.
Position: Program Intern (Two Positions Available)

Job Description: The intern will be responsible for supporting the mission of Inspiring Minds
with an emphasize on program development for the after-school program including but not
limited to:
 Active participation in the planning of curriculum for the after-school program.
 Active participation in the evaluation of the after-school program including the
development of new evaluation tools and the implementation of current ones.
 Assist in all marketing efforts for the after-school program to the community including
potential clients and donors.
 Assist in the planning of the “end of session” student banquet.
 Assist Executive Director and key staff with daily tasks and activities as needed.

 Assists in the coordination of special events including the Our Valley Cooks Food Expo.

invest funding for local economic development projects. Annually, the foundation assists with

Job Description: The foundation is currently searching for qualified interns interested in
pursuing a career in non-profit business. The internship will be comprised of working closely

 Marketing and event organizing
 Research and data entry

Qualifications: The internship will be 15+ hours/week. The ideal candidate will hold an overall
GPA of 2.5 or higher and a 3.0 or higher GPA in his/her major. The student will also posses
strong interpersonal skills and be verbally articulate and demonstrates solid writing skills. A
writing sample is expected.

Job Description: The Marketing & Communications Intern will assist the Director of Marketing
and Communications in all aspects of marketing/public relations, publication development,
communications and special events. Additionally, the intern may be assigned special projects
and may be asked to assist other staff with special projects.
Typical duties of the Marketing & Communications Intern will include, but not be limited
to:
 Assisting with the planning and executing of our United Way’s spring special events. In
particular, the intern will have an integral role in the planning and executing of our
annual Youth Day of Caring in April, a volunteer event for high school and college-age
students.
 Interaction with our United Way partner agencies, and developing volunteer
opportunities.
 Involvement with the newly launched United Way Young Leaders Society.
 Researching and organizing information for use in marketing and resource development
projects including a Leadership Giving Step-Up Program, revamp of current pledge form,
and ideas for print publications, fundraisers, and volunteer projects.
 Input and assistance on our Social Media presence.
 Developing our annual Coupon Booklet campaign incentive by recruiting local
merchants’ participation and preparing the booklet for print.
 Writing copy/stories for the United Way Spring newsletter and website.

will include:
 Assist in the collecting of reports from school personnel and community partners, and
then creating a spreadsheet of results
 Review midterm and final reports to ensure all have been received
 Attend assigned meetings and trainings to identify information to be collected, monitored
and disseminated for assigned initiatives
 Update assigned matrixes
 Assist in writing and posting procedures on district website for establishing new school
partnerships

membership organization that serves its Chamber members and promotes the businesses and
economic health of the Mahoning Valley.
Position: Foundation Intern

Internship Learning Objectives:
1) To obtain valuable experience working in an economic development organization where they
will learn about public policy issues surrounding economic development and workforce
development.
2) To be able to work either alone or in a team environment and to meet deadlines.
3) To use and improve verbal and written skills in preparing research notes, publication pieces,
marketing pieces, and department memos.
Job Description: Assisting in the coordination of the Take Stock in Our Valley Campaign by:
 Setting appointments for me to meet with funding targets. (This will not be cold calling.
The leads are all people that we have currently have relationships with)
 Tracking investment from those leads with a weekly report to accounting.

 Generating communications in the form of letters and phone calls to those leads
 Cultivating new leads for the campaign to contact
 Coordinating communications with Foundation Cabinet Members
Qualifications:
1) Intern should be a business, education, English or other humanities major with at least a 3.0
grade point average.
2) The ability to follow instructions, complete assigned tasks and meet deadlines without direct
supervision.
3) The initiative and creativity to accept or create additional duties to grow in his/her learning
experience.
4) Interns should be prepared to work 16 - 20 hours per week in 4-hour blocks of time. We are
open to flexible scheduling within normal business hours, Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
5) Interns are provided a Parking Pass and are paid mileage to any assigned event, including but
not limited to: Chamber government affairs programs, Chamber awards programs, HR
Luncheons, Mahoning Valley Safety Council luncheons, and After Hours Mixers.
