DUKE JOURNAL OF CONSTITUTIONAL LAW & PUBLIC POLICY MEMBERSHIP AGREEMENT I, _____________________________________________, have read and agree to abide by the Constitution and Bylaws of the Duke Journal of Constitutional Law & Public Policy. I understand that I am making an exclusive commitment to the Journal for two years. As part of this commitment, I agree to the following: I will serve as a Junior Staff Editor for my first year on the Journal. I will thoroughly perform my cite-checking, source-pulling, and other assignments as they arise, and I will turn them in on time. I will maintain communication with my Executive Editor and, if appropriate, other members of the Journal staff. During the summer following my 2L year, I will grade casenotes submitted by rising 2Ls. If I am elected to the Executive Board, I will grade casenotes from both the 2L and 3L competitions, and may need to return to school early to assist with orientation. If I am not elected to the Executive Board, or appointed as an Articles & Commentaries Editor, for my second year on the Journal, I will serve as a Senior Staff Editor. I will complete my assignments thoroughly and on time. I will remain in contact with my Executive Editor and/or other members of the Executive Board as necessary. If accepted to the Journal as a 2L, I will complete a publishable Supreme Court Case Commentary prior to the beginning of my second year on the Journal. If accepted to the Journal as a 3L, I will need to complete my Commentary during my 3L year. If I fail to perform my duties as a member of this Journal in a timely, thorough, and conscientious manner, I may be removed from the Journal pursuant to the procedures set forth in the Constitution and Bylaws. I acknowledge that I must maintain good standing at the Law School in order to remain on the Journal. If my membership is terminated for any reason, the Journal may contact any future employer and inform them of my status. If I fail to complete my assignments in a timely, thorough, and conscientious manner, I will be required to expeditiously redo any assignments that the Executive Board or the Editor In Chief deem inadequate, and I may be removed from the Journal pursuant to the procedures set forth in the Constitution and Bylaws. If my membership is terminated for any reason, the Journal may contact any future employer and inform them of my status. _______________________________________ Signature __________________ Date
