Three student teams entered the Micromouse Competition and one team entered the student paper competition. MSU Team Zigbot won the Micromouse competition. – Presented with award for growth in section. (for year 2007) – PACE Activities: “Technical Outreach to Middle School Students 2008” provides technical/career exposure for two target schools accomplished through joint Science Teacher/ Life member activity/interface and establishment of two First LEGO League robotic teams Western Montana • Small but effective section covering a relatively large geographic area of Western Montana, headquarters and meetings in Butte about 162 members • In 2008, held 9 regular meetings, 1 administrative meetings, and sponsored the annual engineers banquet in late January. • All reports submitted on time to national. • Supported Mathcounts, Crystal Radio Project, and Wild Sheep Monitoring Project through PACE; Area Engineer of the Year, etc. • Financial balance on 12/31/08 was $3539.13 • Thank you National, Region 6 (Robert Baldwin), and NE Area Chair (Michael Rice) for your support! At every Section ExCom we made it an effort to bring new volunteers resulting in the addition of new GOLD chair and vice-chair, a three member nomination committee, and new ExCom officers for 2009. • Four Section and Student Branch activities including two S-PAC conferences (UofU and BYU), a Steak Fry at USU, and a joint Student Branch activity sponsored by the Section and the Sp/Com Chapter. • Joint meetings with the EMC Society to begin the ground work to create a local EMC Society Chapter. • PACE meeting on employment career resources available from Utah State and the IEEE. • The Section sponsored and supported the AUTOTESTCON 08 conference. The conference was very successful and work was started to host a future AUTOTESTCON conference. • Four Social events were sponsored by the Section allowing members and their families to participate and contributed to the addition of new Section volunteers! – a. Utah Engineers Council Banquet celebrating National Engineers Week. – b. Awards Banquet to acknowledge our Section volunteers and our members who achieved Senior and Fellow membership grade. – c. Summer Picnic held at historic park where the fist 44,000 volt hydropower plant in America was located. – d. End of year holiday dinner • The Section worked to form a new PES Chapter which received final approval in December. • Two joint meetings with the SP/Com Chapter. Thank You
