MDRP: Foreign Animal and
Zoonotic Disease Visual Analytics
• Personnel: Ebert, Cleveland, Hardisty, MacEachren, Turton
• External Partners: FAZD, Indiana BOAH
• Goal - Develop visual analytic environments to facilitate effective
prediction, planning, evaluation, mitigation, response, and recovery
for zoonoses and animal health issues
• Approach:
• Integrate FAZD data into a visual
analytic environment linking multiple
models (e.g., disease spread,
economic impact)
• Explore and develop new exploratory
spatial data visual analysis algorithms
tailored for modelers and decision makers

MDRP: Foreign Animal and
Zoonotic Disease Visual Analytics
Outcomes
• New biosecurity environment for preparing,
surveillance, mitigation, management,
response and recovery
• New decision making environment for Rift
Valley Fever
• Initial epidemiological model evaluation and
refinement visual analytic environment
• Initial improved linked
epidemiological/economic model decision
making environment for important and
emerging biological threats
