What is Dual Credit?

Dual Credit - Credit is earned for both
high school and college at the same time
Dual credit courses may count for both
high school and college credit upon
successful completion of college courses
with a minimum grade of “C”


To be eligible, the student must:
› Be classified as a junior or senior
› Submit record of immunization against bacterial meningitis
› Remain enrolled in and satisfy the requirement(s) of the college
course(s)
› Meet the college entrance requirements
› Be enrolled in the high school courses required for graduation that
meet local and state requirements
› Maintain a full daily schedule of classes at the high school
Students must complete:
› the application process – applytexas.org or on paper from TVCC
› a concurrent form signed by a parent/guardian


Students planning to use college courses as a
“Distinguished Measure” on the Distinguished
High School Graduation Plan must have a
minimum grade of “B”
Books, fees, tuition, and transportation are
the student/parent responsibility









TVCC limits the number of dual credit
courses that may be taken per semester
2 classes per semester
Special permission may be granted to take
3 courses ONLY to students who have
successfully completed coursework at
TVCC (B or better)
 Submit an Application to TVCC
 Submit record of immunization against

 Complete the TSI requirements
 TAKS Scores, SAT/ACT scores, THEA
or ACCUPLACER

 Students will be registered for classes by counselors

You will be required to pay your tuition
directly to TVCC

You have to buy books in college!
PHS has a limited number of books
available for students in English and US
History.
If you do not receive a book from the
school, you may purchase books from
TVCC or your preferred retailer.

Check the TVCC Fall Schedule booklet in
the counselors’ office or at TVCC online
for the class or classes that fit your
schedule


We will enroll students for the fall and spring
semesters as long as you meet the paperwork
deadlines. If you miss the deadline for PHS you
must register on your own. It is important that you
register at the time designated on the registration
schedule on the TVCC website:
