Evening Book Discussion
August 3 at 6:30 PM
Abby Ripley, a New Milford
resident, has graciously
agreed to be the facilitator of
this group and has come up
with a terrific list of books.
The book for August is “Life
After Life” by Kate Atkinson
and the library will provide
the books.
The group is limited to 10

August 3 & 17 at 4:00 PM
This is an open Q&A
session for New Milford
residents who would like
help setting up their
downloadable library
eBooks. Bring your device,
your library card and your
questions. No appointment
is necessary, just walk in.
There will be 2 sessions in
August: August 3 and
August 17.
Nurnberg Trials
August 5 at 6:30 PM
Join us as Mark Albertson,
discusses the impact of the
Nurnberg Trials. Nurnberg is
an example of man’s
attempt to hold accountable
those who wage aggressive
war and crimes against
humanity. Yet, throughout
the second half of the 20th
century, man still engages in
abhorrent behavior which
mankind has plagued
himself since Nurnberg.
Monday Movies at NMPL
August 10 at 1:00 PM
Come view foreign films
and discuss them. This
month in this free series we
will feature “Foreign
Letters”
The film is in Hebrew with
English subtitles. It is not
rated and runs 100 minutes.
Light refreshments and a
discussion will follow the
presentation.
Beginners’ Guide to the Cloud
August 12 at 1:00 PM
Increasingly we are relying
on services in "the cloud"
for our entertainment, file
storage, and backup. This
class will introduce the
cloud and some popular
cloud-based services
including Evernote,
Pandora, Stitcher,
iHeartRadio and Dropbox.
This class will meet from
1:00-3:00 PM.
Registration is required.
Healing Power of Plants
August 12 at 6:00 PM
Numen refers to the
animating force in all living
things, the presiding spirit of
a place, animal, plant or
being. In this exploration of
the numinous relationship
between humans and plants
NMPL and The Pratt Center
are offering a screening of
this important documentary
“Numen: The Nature of
Plants” with a Q&A
following. The film is not
rated and runs 75 minutes.
Science Fiction Book Group
August 17 at 6:30 PM
Marilyn Gunerman, a New
Milford resident, has
graciously agreed to be the
facilitator of this group. All
book choices are drawn from
award winners. The group
meets the third (3rd) Monday
of the month in the
Connecticut Room.
The library will provide the
books. The group is limited to
10 people, so please call to
sign up.
Cancer Prevention
August 19 at 6:30 PM
What Is Cancer? What Is
Different For Men And
Women? Join us as Cindy
Tyler, an oncology
certified RN from the
Diebold Family Cancer
Center at New Milford
Hospital, discusses
prevention and screening
recommendations from
the American Cancer
Society. Help yourself and
your loved ones!
Introduction to Genealogy
August 19, 2015 at 1:00 PM
Genealogy is fun and
rewarding, but there is so
much information on the
Internet. This course is
designed as an introduction
to help you get organized
and begin to sort through all
the possibilities. You will then
be able to go on to conduct
your own research and make
your own discoveries!

1:00 PM in Memorial Hall
This is our monthly series
where we host a mystery
book discussion group.
This month's book is
“Truth Be Told”
by Hank Phillippi Ryan.
We provide the books and
you provide the insight! The
group is limited to 15

Independent Spirit Series
August 26 at 6:00 PM
They're back! We have
resumed our monthly series
of popular, first run movies
which lend themselves to
lively discussion. Tonight's
movie is “Far from the
Madding Crowd" starring
Carey Mulligan as
Bathsheba Everdeen and
Tom Sturridge as Frank
Troy. The film is rated PG13 and runs 119 minutes.
Coloring Party
August 28 at 2:00 PM
You are invited to a
Coloring Party from 2-3
PM for adults to relieve
stress!
Just bring your creativity
and supplies and
refreshments will be
provided, as well as
soothing music.
