Hello and welcome to my class! My name is Rose Robles and I will be your child’s 5th grade
Science and Social Studies teacher. I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Science and
Science Education from UTEP and I have been teaching for twelve years.
I look forward to a wonderful year of learning. The upper grades here at Rosa Guerrero School
are departmentalized. Your child will be changing classes throughout the day. By doing this, we
feel your child will be receiving the best possible education because he or she will have a teacher
who has expertise in a particular subject.
This will be a very important year for 5th grade because it is the first year they will take a
STAAR (State of Texas Assessment of Academic Readiness) test in science. Therefore, I will be
spending the year preparing your child for this important exam by using inquiring based learning
and by making connections to the real world.
Although my degree is in science, I have a passion for American History, so I am very fortunate
to also teach two sections of Social Studies. In this class, we will discuss the important historical
events that lead to formation of our great country. I will also tie in important recent events to
enhance global awareness.
I have high expectations for my students and I know we are going to have a wonderful year!
