Hotel




provide guests with lodging, food and other amenities,
The hotel business has its own load factor in the form of
the occupancy rate.
Catering ,providing food and drink for transient, has
always gone together with accommodations. Food services
are a feature of hotels.
The ranking of the décor, service, amenities and ambiance
of each hotel is expressed in stars, from one to five.
Hotel Classification



The first way of categorizing hotels is based on
their functions which include commercial hotels,
resort hotels, convention hotels and resident hotels.
The second way of classifying hotels is based on
the level of service, amenity and facility they
provide.
Generally speaking, there are five kinds of hotels
defined by the hotel rating criteria-1star, 2 star, 3
star, 4 star, 5 star.
Breakfast Categories

Continental Style:


it is a light breakfast that usually consists a breadstuff( such as toast, croissants,
pastries, etc. ), coffee, tea or other liquid. Continental breakfast will never
include meat.
The All American Breakfast: it offers mainly the following items: choice
of chilled fruit juice, two eggs any style, warm ham slice, bacon. Or sausage
links, assorted breakfast rolls. Or toasts with jam, marmalade or honey and
butter.
Beverages: coffee or tea.

Chinese Style:

There are too many breakfast varieties around China. People in the north tend
to eat more wheat such steamed buns, deep-fried Chinese doughnut, pancakes,
and spring roll. Soy milk either salty or sweet is their favorite. Savory items
may include a wide choice of pickles vegetables. People from Canton start a
day with various dim sum, congee with kind of extra ingredients, side dishes
and different kinds of tea.

Food Industry





The food industry service

vending and contract institutional food service.
Local restaurants

coffee shops,
specialty restaurants,
family restaurants,
cafeterias, and
full-service restaurants with carefully orchestrated atmosphere.










Features of Hotel and Food
Service





employ large numbers of people.
one of the most labor-intensive of all industries .
Much of the activity in connection with food and
beverage service is invisible to the guests,
many of the employers in the department have
frequent contact with them. especially dining room
and room service personnel.
They must adhere to the same standards of
hospitality and courtesy as all the other employees
who meet and talk with the guests in the hotel.

Types of Tours

Independent tour

the least structured tours available and participants are basically on their own.

Hosted tour

minimal structure and offer the services of a host. The duties of a tour host are
much like the duties of a hotel concierge.

Escorted tour

the most structured and a tour company employee, called escort, is with the
group throughout the trip.
the special interest tour. These tours focus on a particular topic, activity, but
most of them tend to be hosted or escorted.


FIT

FIT stand for foreign independent tour but are used to identify domestic
customized tours as well.
Each component of an FIT is arranged separately by the travel counselor.

Purchase a tour


When a client purchases a tour, regardless of
whether it is independent, hosted, escorted, or an
FIT, he is buying specific products and services,
called components.
Components include transportation ( e.g. air, train,
motorcoach, boat), transfers from the airport to the
hotel with porterage( baggage handling),
accommodation, meals, and sightseeing.

Forms in Tourism

Tourism is a comprehensive industry, including sectors of
different kinds. The forms used also concerns different sectors,
such as the Customs, Tourist Agencies and hotels. The commonly


