Weekly Vocabulary Routine
Vocabulary Workbook, Level G
MONDAY: Unit in vocabulary workbook is assigned as homework due Tuesday.
TUESDAY: Instructor will do a visual check and answer any clarifying questions on the list.
FRIDAY: Vocabulary quiz
Following FRIDAY: Test that includes random words from vocab list and two preceding
weekly word lists.
Five Weekly Words + Allusion:
MONDAY: New words of the week assigned, to be defined and illustrated with examples.
Due as homework on Friday.
FRIDAY: Instructor will collect for homework grade.
Randomly chosen words from this list will appear on vocabulary tests every other Friday.
Quarterly Quiz Grade on Personal Vocabulary Acquisition
Weekly, you will additionally compile a personal vocabulary list from your reading
(Common Ground, Art of the Personal Essay, coursework, newspaper, magazines). You are
expected to accumulate 5 new words per week. At the end of every marking period, these
lists will be collected for a quiz grade (~50 words per marking period). This packet will be
handed out at the beginning of the marking period. For each word you should provide:





Cite source (book, essay, article)
Context sentence
Part of speech and definition
Original sentence
Bonus if you hear it or see it during the week.
