ELIAS Incident: – Barge aground on Belle Rock – Barge refloated due to incoming tide – 10ft x 10ft hole found, but little impact to vessel stability Impact: – Max fuel capacity is 20,000 gallons, but verified no fuel onboard – 37K lbs of high explosives onboard – Possible multi-day event if vessel didn’t refloat M/V JUSTIN Incident: – Vessel sank alongside a crane barge – Vessel punctured the barge, divers plugged the whole – Large crane barge brought in to raise the vessel Impact: – 300 gallons discharged – Skimming and diving operations conducted – Difficult salvage conditions – Highly visible area, large media interest Questions?
