JOB DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE: Marketing Manager – Maternity cover REPORTS TO: Director of Marketing AREA: Marketing Department GRADE/SALARY: PO Scale, points 35 to 38, £29,922 to £32,491 per annum POST NO: SS360 CLOSING DATE: Thursday 3rd October 2013 INTERVIEWS: Thursday 17th October 2013 DBS: Enhanced Disclosure Required ____________________________________________________________________________ PURPOSE: The primary role of the Marketing Manager is the management of the activity undertaken by the Marketing Team together with management of the Marketing budget. The role also incorporates Cross College management of a number of associated activities including the annual H.E. graduation and the College celebration events. This includes negotiating with external organisations, monitoring their effectiveness together with management of the associated budgets. On a regular basis the Marketing Manager’s role includes working with Curriculum Managers to ensure effective communication to deliver significant Cross-College activities such as Open days and Careers events. PRINCIPAL DUTIES: 1. To assist the Director of Marketing with the development of both strategic and operational marketing planning. 2. To monitor and review the Marketing operational plan and provide the Director of Marketing with a progress update. 3. To set and implement each individual team members’ operational plans and performance targets and provide the Director of Marketing with a progress update. 4. To identify opportunities to implement new and creative communication channels to ensure the College is at the forefront of education marketing. 5. To identify and manage suitable partners who can develop new communication channels. 6. To undertake regular team meetings and reporting updates and feedback to the Director of Marketing. 7. To receive and monitor monthly reports from team members and updating on progress. 8. Carry out appraisals of all team members in the Marketing Department. 9. To ensure that corporate identity and Marketing guidelines are adhered to. 10. To ensure marketing activities are cost effective and provide value for money, where appropriate. 11. To implement and monitor Marketing engagement targets ensuring they are achieved with key stakeholders. 12. To ensure evaluation mechanisms are employed, reports generated and information disseminated regarding Marketing activities. 13. To develop and implement regular reviews of Marketing activities and log actions as part of an innovation plan. 14. To ensure that the team regularly updates their knowledge on issues regarding Health and Safety, Risk Assessments, Data Protection and Copyright Law. 15. To ensure the team work efficiently and effectively whilst maintaining high levels of staff morale and team work. 16. To manage the Marketing budget, ensuring the budget is updated, accurate and within allocation set by Finance. 17. To manage the Marketing intranet. 18. To co-ordinate College wide publications i.e. full-time, part-time and higher education prospectuses. 19. To co-ordinate and produce internal Marketing communications i.e. staff newsletter. 20. To assist the Director of Marketing in undertaking market research. 21. To adhere to policies, procedures and values of Solihull College. 22. To undertake Health and Safety and Safeguarding training as required. 23. To undertake necessary Health and Safety responsibilities and duties as required by this post. 24. To undertake any necessary Data Protection duties and responsibilities as required by the post. 25. Such other duties as required which are broadly consistent with the general functions and grading of this position.
