Guide to Djanogly LRC
This guide introduces you to the Djanogly
Learning Resource Centre on Jubilee Campus.

1. Introduction
Djanogly LRC is situated on the Jubilee
campus and houses resources which
specifically support teaching, learning and
research in the Faculty of Education and
the School of Computer Science and IT.
2. Services and facilities
Photocopying Area
The self-service machines are all cardoperated, using either credited Smart
Cards or Copy Cards purchased from the
Lending Desk. Copy credits can be
purchased from the kiosk in the photocopy
room. Remember that all photocopying is
subject to the Copyright Regulations.
Lending Desk
This deals mainly with the borrowing and
returning of books and the collection of
reserved books and inter-library loans.
Please remember to inform lending desk
staff of your change of address. Staff will
also be happy to help with enquiries
relating to membership and opening hours.
Self Issue
The self issue machine is opposite the
lending desk and allows students to
borrow items independently, including at
times when the lending desk is unstaffed.
Clear instructions are provided on-screen.
Short Loan Collection
There is a small collection of high demand
items designated as short loan, which is
kept behind the lending desk.
Inter-library Loans
You can use this service to request
material not held by the University of
Nottingham Library. Please see guide
IS2005 Availability of the Inter-library
Loans Service for details of quotas,
charges and authorisation requirements for
undergraduates. Inter-library Loan
requests are made on UNLOC (University
of Nottingham Library Online Catalogue).
Guide IS2009 UNLOC gives more details on
making inter-library loans and Library staff
will also be pleased to give you guidance.
Study facilities
A number of study desks and carrels are
provided around the LRC, with an open
plan silent study area at the end of the
book shelves. Two bookable study rooms
are available at the top of the LRC. Please
enquire at the Lending Desk for details.
Laptops may be plugged in at the study
spaces around the edge of the LRC.
Assistive Technology Room
A study room containing a scanner and PC
loaded with Assistive Technology software
including:
Kurzweil 1000 v6.0
ZoomText v8.1
JAWS v5.0
Keys can be reserved on UNLOC and are
issued from the lending desk.
3. Resources
Periodicals (Stacks 1 – 7)
Psychology, Education and Computer
Science journals are located in this area.
Subject Enquiry Point
Journals are grouped in broad shelf marks
according to their subject areas, and then
arranged in alphabetical order by journal
title within these classmarks.
Located near the Lending Desk where help
with Athens registration and specialised
subject related enquiries is provided.

Reference Collection (Stack 8)
This contains a useful selection of
directories, atlases, timetables and concise
modern language dictionaries in addition to
subject bibliographies, specialised
reference material and a Times Educational
Supplement archive on microfilm.
The ISCRA houses 68 open access PCs and
two black and white printers. A colour
printer is available during weekdays
between the hours of 9.00am – 12.00pm
and 1.30pm – 4.00pm, and two scanners
can be booked during weekdays between
9.00am and 4.30pm.
Print credits can be purchased from the
kiosk in the photocopy room, the
Operational Services Assistant, or
alternately from the Lending Desk.
Books (Stacks 8 – 22)
Books are classified according to the
alpha-numeric Library of Congress
classification scheme. To locate individual
items, please consult the University of
Nottingham Library Online Catalogue
(UNLOC). A number of dedicated terminals
are available in the LRC and UNLOC is
available via the web at
http://aleph.nottingham.ac.uk/ALEPH
or by selecting Information
Gateway>Library Online Catalogue from
the IS website.
For further guidance, please refer to IS

LRC staff will be happy to assist you.
Dissertations (Stack 23)
Djanogly LRC holds Masters dissertations
from the Faculty of Education and the
School of Computer Science and IT.
PhD Theses are held at Hallward Library.
Commonwealth Education
Documentation Centre (Stack 24)
A reference collection of approximately 500
items specialising in all aspects of
Commonwealth Education and including
many items of grey literature is housed
within the Djanogly LRC. 6858
4. ISCRA (Computer Resource
Area)
This is located at the very top of the LRC
and is accessed via the internal staircase
or the lift at the centre of the building. It is
open 23.5 hours per day, and can be
accessed using a Smart Card outside of
LRC opening hours.
