QUALITY ASSURANCE MANAGER

POSITION SUMMARY
 Responsible for the Plant Quality Assurance function.
 Supports Corporate and Government guidelines to ensure that the manufacture of
a safe, high quality product.
 SQF Practitioner for the plant.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
 Directs the activities of the Quality Assurance Department and administers all
Corporate and Plant Programs that insure product quality and conform to GMP’s.
 Develops and directs QA staff in monitoring the control points and acceptable
limits for product standards set by R&D. Ensures that all products produced and
shipped meet plant standards in all respects.
 Directs and monitors daily material sampling and acceptance programs. Directs
the laboratory testing, the ordering of laboratory supplies and month-end inventory.
 Directs and conducts the raw material quality control programs to ensure that all
raw materials received and entering the processing area are accompanied by
CoA’s and are compliant with plant specifications. Works with the R&D
Department on the updating of Raw Material Specifications. Works with the
Material Department to ensure Kosher certification standards are met and to
ensure packaging material quality, including involvement in the updating of
packaging orders. Issues CARe Reports for supplier non-compliance of raw
materials specifications.
 Directs the maintenance and compliance of formulas and manufacturing
procedures for all Cambridge Plant products set by R&D. Directs and conducts
manufacturing audits and training.
 Provides timely support and maintains close communications with production and
other departments so that decisions are made and quality issues resolved on a
timely basis. Directs and conducts production trials as part of a trouble-shooting
process for quality systems and conducts taste panels from such trials.
 Directs and administers all programs to ensure to ensure food safety, such as,
micro testing and releases, GMP audits, HACCP, Pest Control, cleaning and
sanitation procedures and swabbing. Is involved in the close monitoring of all such
programs.
Maintains close communication with Corporate Quality Control. Directs the QA
monthly reporting requirements.
Develops and controls departmental budget. Directs cost saving plans and
projects in the QA department.
Reviews and addresses customer complaint issues and issues in the Quality
Report.
Shares responsibility with the R&D manager for directing the maintenance of the
QC/QA cold storage room.
Establishes and updates analytical testing procedures for the lab and perform
routine testing when the QC Inspector and Process Analyst are not available.
Other related work assigned by Plant Manager.
Follows all Safe Quality Food (SQF) established standards, guidelines, and
compliance measures.







QUALIFICATIONS






B.S. in Food Science or related field.
M.S. in Food Science preferred
5 years minimum in QA/QC in the food industry. Candy industry preferred.
5 years supervisory experience.
Food processing, candy technology, GMP’S/HACCP, regulatory guidelines, food
microbiology, analytical chemistry.
Ability to handle/lift up to 35lbs
