INSTRUCTIONS
This exercise gives you the opportunity to show your spoken Spanish and conversational skills in a
controlled manner. For a good performance you must follow the instructions closely and
carefully. The exercise will take around from 7 to 10 minutes.

Prepare your performance well in advance of your day and time.
Get together with your partners and plan what you are going to do.
Make sure that everybody has a fair share of the time
Think carefully about the: topic, the stages of the conversation, the type of Spanish required,
the vocabulary (expressions, idioms, words, connectives).
You must use varied and non-repetitive vocabulary.
You must show a good pronunciation pattern to express ideas, emotions, feelings.
You must show a good command of emphasis, questioning, exclamations, pauses and silence.
You must show a good command of body language

CONVERSATION GROUP

TOPICS and aspects of them that must be mentioned.
The project; introduction, readings, data collection (methodology), important aspects

FORMAT OF THE CONVERSATION (7 - 10 MINUTES)
These are just some suggestions about the format of the conversation.
START
a)
The group must choose somebody to introduce the people saying:
Today we are going to have a chat about …..the projects we have been working on since October.
This is …..who will do her project on …….It will be very interesting to hear the different topics
because…. I will start by ..…. (introduces him/herself
PRESENTATION OF ASPECTS OF THE BOOK
b)
Each student at a time says their own name and introduces their project by saying:
My name…... Today I would like to talk about my project…(name of project).especially about one why
I have chosen it, the readings I have done and some aspects which I found particularly interesting
…. ( and continues for some time)
QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
c)
Then, there must be questions and answers about their individual interventions from other
members by saying:
I found your project fascinating/marvelous/ etc and would like to ask ……(1 question each)
FINISHING
d)
Finally, everybody is offered the chance to say a last sentence by saying:
I must say I have had a great/wonderful/fantastic experience talking to you about my project and I
have learnt a lot about things I didn’t know by listening to each one of you.
INTERRUPTIONS
Spanish style of conversation rules that people can interrupt whenever they wish provided they do
not stop the flow of the interaction. They can say anything similar to what follows

These expressions accompany what other people are saying without interrupting them. Those who
are speaking do not take much notice of them and just continue with their contribution. They serve
the purpose of telling the one speaking that you are listening attentively to them during the
conversation.
