FACTS ON FILE - WORLD NEWS DIGEST
Facts on File provides articles on world news topics from 1940 to the present.
This source provides short articles about world economics, business,
government and general news. Facts on File is also available in print in our
reference section.
TO OPEN
1. Start the Internet Explorer or other web browser.
2. Choose Facts on File from the MASH Internet start page.
TO SEARCH
1. On the left side of the page, you see the “Search Options” tab.
2. Under this is “Keyword Search” and a blank box for your search term. Type your search
term, for example, “Darfur.”
3. Under the search box are options for how you want your search to be done -- check or
uncheck the boxes to suit your needs.
4. You can also search for your topic using a specific date range by using the optional date
range boxes.
5. After you press “Enter” or click on the blue “Go” button, you’ll see a list of titles.
6. Click on the title of the article to see the full text.
TO PRINT
To print the article and its citation, click on the “print” button near the middle of the line
under the title of the article. If you want the entire article, be sure to do it this way so
that you have a printer-friendly (paper- and toner-saving) copy.
OTHER CHOICES
If you click on “Encyclopedia”, you will get an encyclopedia-like article on your topic. Click
on “Almanac” and you’ll get an almanac-like article.
Facts on File has other interesting and very useful databases too. Click on the tab
“Available Databases” at the upper right hand corner of the page and do some exploring







