introduce components used in renewable generation including power electronics, drives, generators, control systems and network interfacing
provide students with an overview of generation of electrical energy using renewable energy
equip students with a detailed review of the electrical engineering aspects of renewable generation of electricity including system control and interfacing

System components – control systems and interfacing, PM generators, power electronics and converters
Small-scale wind generation – system design, operation and interfacing, MPP tracking
On- and off-shore wind systems – system design, operation and interfacing, (direct-connection, DFIG and direct drive systems)
Tidal converters – system types, conversion processes, linear and rotary electrical generators
Wave converters and energy conversion processes
Photovoltaic operation and MPP tracking, conversion process and topologies, network interfacing
Introduce simulation techniques for modelling renewable conversion systems
