OFFICIAL VISIT
You are cordially invited by the Masons of the 40th Masonic Districts
to attend the festivities surrounding the visit of Most Worshipful Orville Lee
O’Neill and First Lady Roxie to the Magic Rio Grande Valley…gateway to
old Mexico and winter wonderland of the great southwest.
Accommodations have been reserved at the Embassy Suites in
McAllen. Please make your reservations direct with the Embassy at 956686-3000. Reservations must be received by January 5, 2010 in order to
secure the special rate of $109.00 single and $119.00 double plus tax. These
prices include a cooked to order breakfast and happy hour in the afternoon.
The group name is Masonic conference.
The Valley is served by Southwest and Continental in Harlingen, and
by American and Continental in McAllen. Please remember in making your
reservations that it is at least one hour from Harlingen to McAllen and I
would suggest that you arrive no later than 3:00 P.M. on Friday in order to
give ample time to attend the banquet. If you need transportation from
Harlingen to McAllen it is extremely important that you contact Ben
Yudesis at 956-245-6672. No transportation can be guaranteed after 3:00
P.M. arrival. Rental cars are available at both airports.
The fun will begin on Friday January 22nd with a banquet at the Echo
Hotel in Edinburg at 6:30P.M. social and visiting and 7:00 Dinner . Cost of
tickets is $20.00 per person. The Echo Hotel is approximately 30 minutes
from the Embassy Suites in McAllen.
On Saturday morning the Grand Master’s Conference will begin at
10:00 A.M. at McAllen Lodge. The Lodge will be open at 8:30 A.M. for
coffee and fellowship. A light lunch will be served by members of McAllen
Lodge.
Because of the violence in Mexico we do not feel it is safe to make
the trip this year. But we are not going to let that spoil our fun. We are
going to Rancho El Charco and have a real South Texas Pachanga and it will
be fun.What is a Pachanga? A great party with food (sounds Masonic to me).
We will have Guisadas De Puerco (what is that?…pig), Fajitas, Chicken and
may be a little Cabrito with salsa, tortillas, rice and beans and foot stomping
music. What a great way to relax and enjoy our time together.
