Thank you very much to the members of our school council who have contributed so much to the well-being of all our
students. We had a great council meeting following the Open House and BBQ on the 11th of September and we
welcomed many new members. We will elect a new executive at our next meeting on MONDAY, OCTOBER 28 th. The
MINUTES of the meeting will be sent out soon. Thank you to Mrs. Janice DeVlugt for preparing our annual report for
2012 – 2013 found below:
Holy Rosary Catholic School Council
Annual Report to the Community and the Board 2012 - 2013 School Year
Comprised of 13 members, Holy Rosary Catholic School Community Council held 4 bi-monthly meeting
from September 2011 to June 2012.
The council reviewed and worked on various projects/issues during the year including the following:
 September meet the teacher night and parent bbq
 Participated in the Wyoming Fall Fair Parade
 Discussion of EQAO results
 Roots of Empathy Program in our Kindergarten classroom
 Participation in POGO – Pediatric Oncology Group of Ontario
 Terry Fox run held at the school
 Review of the Parent Engagement Program
 Held a presentation on Anti-bullying – “Power of One”
 Reviewed spending goals throughout the year
 Reviewed Board Policy on BYOD – Bring your own device
 Assisted with the purchase of guitars and implementation of the school Guitar Club
 Support of March Musical – Clowns
 Presentation by UPower Concerts – Motivational Speaker – attendance by all grades
 Grade 7 Muskoka Woods trip
 Funding provided for school planners for each of the students
 Support of classroom Art Goes to School Workshops for Students
 Annual Christmas Skating and Turkey Dinner
 Grade 7 & 8 students collected food from local community and Grade 5 & 6 assisted with sorting
of food for the local food bank
 Recipient of State Farm Company Foundation Good Neighbour Grant Program
 Grade 8 students participated in the Kingdom Assignment
 Review of Board Policy on Door Locking Initiative
 Fundraising initiatives:
o Grocery Certificate Program
o Magazine Sales
o Toothbrush Sales
o Nevada Ticket Sales
o Popcorn Sales
o Cookie Dough
These meeting were open to the public and encourage input from parents and other members of the
school community.
We wish to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of the many individuals who volunteered their
time to contribute to the success of the school council this year.
