Remembrance Day Prayer
Help me to understand why:
There is war instead of peace,
There is hatred instead of love,
There is lying in place of the truth.
Give me the courage, strength and wisdom
To teach others the meaning of
Peace love and truth,
So that we can make this world
A better place for all to live in harmony.
AMEN

The month of November includes three important days:
ALL SAINTS DAY, ALL SOULS DAY and
REMEMBRANCE DAY
These days serve to remind us to pray for our saints, deceased friends and relatives and those who fought for
peace. On November 11th at 10:30 am the school presented a meaningful Remembrance Day Liturgy for those
who fought to help make our lives better. May God grant
them eternal rest and peace.
VIRTUES PROGRAM
In the month of November we will celebrate the virtue of
Conscience. A Person of Conscience…
• Chooses to do the ‘right thing’ and feel good about it
• Can see how his/her actions may hurt others
• Admits his/her wrong-doing and feels badly
• Says ‘sorry’ and tries to make up for mistakes
• Keeps promises
God has given us the ability to know the right and decent
way to act and then to act that way. We trust that the
common Spirit we share inspires us and guides us to
make good decisions if we allow our conscience to be
well-formed.

CROSS COUNTRY
WINTER WEATHER
During the winter season, many parents are
concerned about school policy on outdoor
recess. It is generally accepted that when the
wind chill factor drops below -25°C, students should not go
outside for recess. Dufferin-Peel C.D.S.B. Policy uses a
wind chill factor of -20° C as a determining factor for modified recess. We ask that students come dressed appropriately with hats, gloves, mittens etc. Where possible, please
put identification on your child’s belongings. Please note

ROSARY APOSTOLATE
CHRISTMAS CONCERT
Mrs. Araman and the Parent CouncilParish Rep. Mrs. Priselac have worked
to bring the Rosary Apostolate Program to St. Bonaventure.
Monthly, each class has the opportunity to pray the rosary
with dedicated Rosary Apostolates who guide the prayers.
Their first session last month was met with enthusiasm by
students from all grades. The remaining days for praying
the rosary are November 6th, December 4th, January 8th,
February 5th, March 5th, April 2nd and May 7th.
We thank the Rosary Apostolate for coming into our
School and we are looking forward to our remaining dates.
The Christmas Concert Sing-a-Long will take
place on Thursday December 18th, 2014, this will
include all kindergarten to grade 3 classes.
More information will follow.
Then in the spring, there will be a Spring Concert which
will take place with the remaining grades .
TRAFFIC SAFETY
CROSSING GUARD
Our school driveway is a matter of great
concern in regards to the safety of our
students. Therefore, we are reminding you
again to use the Kiss ‘n’ Ride lane to drop off
or pick up your child.
Kindly assist us in reminding children to cross with
the Crossing Guard at Leagate when coming to and
going home from school. The Crossing Guard is on
duty at 8:15-8:45 am and 3:15-3:45 pm.
Thank you for your co-operation in looking out for the
safety of all our students.





We clear the Kiss ‘N Ride usually in 10 minutes.
Please be patient we are all BUSY but SAFETY
comes first.
The inside lane (closest to the school) is the only lane
where cars can stop to drop off their children in the
morning and pick up their children in the afternoon.
Drivers should not be parking in this lane and leaving
their vehicle to walk to the school to pick up their
child.
The outside lane is a drive thru lane. This means that
there should be no stopping and/or loading or unloading of students.
If your child is not at the Kiss ‘N Ride area at
dismissal time, please park in one of the spaces
available in the parking lot or circle around once
more.
Please do not walk your children through the two
Kiss ‘N Ride lanes. This is very unsafe and drivers
may not see you in time. Take the time to walk
around the Kiss ‘N Ride lanes.
FRONT DRIVEWAY
The front of the school is for BUSES ONLY.
CARS ARE NOT PERMITTED TO PARK, DROP
OFF or PICK UP students in the dr iveway or bus lane
located at the front of the school.
When stopping your vehicle on the road in front of the
school, please refrain from blocking the driveway so that
designated Board personnel can access it when needed.
PEDICULOSIS
Although not a communicable disease, pediculosis (head
lice) is a concern to parents and teachers. Each year it is
common for outbreaks of pediculosis to occur. We request your full co-operation.
If a case is found in the school, we will inform all parents. We then request that you check your own child’s
head. If you find them to also be infested, please contact us so that we may advise you on the proper treatment for them.
This information can also be obtained from a pharmacist
or the regional Health Department. Even if cases are not
reported from the school, it is a wise precaution to check
your child’s head periodically. Encourage your children
not to put on other people’s hats or scarves, even when
playing. Inform them not to use other people’s combs or
hairbrushes. If your child does become infested with head
lice, we will ask you to keep them out of school until
after they have been treated with the correct shampoo
and their hair is clear of both lice and nits (eggs).
Your cooperation is an important part of the efforts being
made to control the spread of pediculosis in our school.

First day back from Break
A new initiative for the intermediate students at
St. Bonaventure this year is the S.W.A.G. team.
S.W.A.G stands for “Students With A Goal.” This is a
school initiative that incorporated faith, social justice,
and student leadership. We have a team of students who
will be responsible for leading, organizing, running, and
overseeing various events throughout the school year.
Our first event was the Halloween cookie and milk sale.
Watch for more exciting events from this impressive
team!
