Holderness Learning & Skills Development Fund The Holderness Learning & Skills Development Fund has been established with £240,000 from Scottish and Southern Energy plc and Statoil UK Ltd as a result of their development of gas storage caverns at Aldbrough. The Fund support projects which further education, learning and skills in order to strengthen the economic wellbeing of the Holderness area. Eligibility for Funding Applications can be submitted by individuals, community groups, partnership organisations or businesses The activity must benefit the Holderness area, (North Holderness, Mid Holderness, South West Holderness and/or South East Holderness) Applications must be for a grant of at least £100 The usual maximum grant limit will be 50% of the total costs of the project, (although the grant Panel will have some discretion over this) Applications must be for grant towards projects, (or discrete elements of projects), which have not already started Grants cannot be paid to cover the costs of any items/activities for which money has already been received from other sources Applicants must show that they have made attempts to secure additional funding from other sources Fund Objectives Projects must do at least one of the following: Support and promote learning opportunities to enable everyone to realise their potential, lead a fulfilling life and make a full contribution to the community and the economy. Upskill the workforce to address the local skills mismatch and develop the skills of the local population to match innovation and new economic growth areas. Remove barriers to accessing employment opportunities, particularly those disadvantaged in the labour market. Application Procedure Applications should be made on a Holderness Learning & Skills Development Fund form. Copies of the Application Form, Information Sheet and list of deadlines for completed applications can be obtained by contacting the Holderness Funds Support Office on (01482) 391693. The Holderness Funds Support Officer will also be available to assist those with proposals to develop their project and to complete the application form in line with the requirements of the Fund. Completed forms should be returned to the Holderness Funds Support Office, along with copies of the requested documentation. REMEMBER: All the eligibility criteria must be met and the project must fit with at least one of the Fund Objectives. Assessment Procedure A Grant Panel meet once every three months to discuss applications submitted by the previous deadline and to make a decision as to whether to award a grant towards a project. The panel is made up of representatives from:the local community, business sector, education and training providers and Local Authority . Applicants should learn of the outcome of the assessment of their submission within two weeks of the relevant Grant Panel meeting. Applications will be assessed against criteria which help to ensure that the Fund is being used to maximise benefit to the Holderness area by strengthening the economy, addressing known needs and supporting sustainable activity.
