Director’s Report – October 2012 Joy Neal, Director Library: Circulation for October was 3087. Made 31 library cards. Patron count was 3147. We had 187 people being served by various library programs, and 354 individual uses of our computers. We had Legos @ the library on the 16th. We ran computer classes on the 10th, 17th, and 24th. Only two students so they got individualized attention. We had Gadget Nights on the 11th and 18th. The library participated in the Merchants Halloween giving out 47 bags of goodies. Staff: We had a staff meeting on the 30th. Community: I attended the Friends of the Library meeting on the 15. I attended the Kiwanis installation dinner on the 3rd. I am on the board again. I helped serve at the Kiwanis Spaghetti Feed on the 17th. I helped out at Quilt Fest on the 7th. I got to be a teacher assistant for one of the classes. Misc: I attended the SIHRMA Workshop on the 11th. Topic was homeland security. I attended the Northwest Corner Library Directors meeting on the 25th at the Anacortes library. I attended the class on running a nonprofit put on by the Secretary of State’s Office on the 26th. Alice and Diane (FOL Pres.) joined me. Lots of good information. As part of the Community Connect Network Grant I was interviewed about our laptop lab on the 10th by a person from the UW.
