Database Administrator and lead programmer solely performing database and application
maintenance activities, development, documentation and support to Integra Hindustan
Control Limited, Baroda, an ABB group company which has its own customized ERP
running Purchase, Inventory control, Payroll, Finance and Sales Order Processing
systems.
As an Oracle database administrator, the following are my responsibilities:
- Recently upgraded Oracle database from version 8.0 to 9i successfully.
- Database object creation (tables, indexes, sequences, triggers, stored procedures,
stored functions), maintenance, and security (users, roles, profiles)
- Data merging
Online transactions like material receipts, material requisition, finished goods
transactions, quality check transactions etc take place at the manufacturing unit
located 40 Kms away from the main office
. Transactions like purchase order generation, planning etc take place at the main
office on another database. The data from the manufacturing unit is periodically
brought to the main office and merged using oracle utilities like import and
export.
- Backup and recovery
Taking regular backups of the database using CD-writer, tape drive.
Performing database recovery activities.
- Application design and execution problem identification (SQL tuning and
optimization on views and queries), Memory usage tuning.
- Monitoring space usage.
As an Oracle developer, my responsibilities include:

Designing, developing, testing and implementing new forms and reports using
Developer 2000 with main objective of making the systems more flexible from
the user standpoint.
Conversing with users concerning desired system modifications and
enhancements, performing the actual code changes
Migration to higher version
Successfully upgraded the all the applications running in Forms 4.5 and Reports
2.5 to Forms & Reports 6i. Corrected the reported problems in application
running with the new version of forms/reports.

Documentation of any changes done to the system. Documenting new proposal
and comparing it with the old one, prior to development and implementation.
