V for Vendetta: Notes
Purpose: So…why are we watching V for Vendetta? Besides the fact that it’s a thoughtful and
entertaining action film? Simple. It thematically connects to our unit, but offers some very different
messages from our core text, George Orwell’s 1984. We will examine the two works, the protagonists
(heroes) and the antagonists (villains), the similarities they have with to each other, as well as the
differences they have with each other. Ultimately, we will conclude with a synthesis essay in which you
will use details from the two works to support an opinion.
Make notes for each of the following. Who are they? What motivates them? What have they done?
What do they do? Are there any connections to 1984?

