Make sure that every item in your list applies to all living things!

2. I wonder how these functions are carried out in a multicellular organism such as a human
or tree. Identify the parts of your body that perform each of these life functions.
3. The smallest living things, such as bacteria or the protozoans in pond water, can perform
all of these life functions as well. I wonder how these functions are carried out in a singlecelled organism. Identify the parts of their "body" that perform each of these life functions.
4. Label the diagrams of the animal and plant cells. Make a brief note to identify the function
of each organelle. Relate the function of each organelle to the life function (see 1) when
possible.
5. Evaluate the statement that the cell nucleus is a living thing.
6. What evidence do you have to support the statement that the cell is the basic,
fundamental unit of life?
Label the parts of the animal cell.
Label the parts of the plant cell.
