BLACKBOARD DISCUSSION Spring 2003 A part of your responsibilities for the MKTG 5133-MG 720 course is to read the organizational profiles provided by 7-8 other individuals within your assigned group, query 3-4 of them as to thoughts you have on their organizations and strategies, and respond to their questions. The primary purpose of the exercise is to provide all individuals insights into the activities of different types of organizations and business units. The total class was divided into eight small groups in order to reduce the onerous task of reading 50-60 profiles (which many of you wouldn’t bother doing given the magnitude of the task!). Your task at this point is to: 1) read all of postings by others in your group; 2) reply to a few of the initial postings with a question or observation (it may be specifically what is provided or perhaps on ideas discussed to date-e.g., customer focus, business units, customer value, marketing orientation, environmental forces, global reach, etc.); 3) respond to others’ responses to your postings; and 4) read questions presented to your organizational posting and reply. The opportunity for reading and posting will be available through February 19. An explanation of the posting of questions and observations on the organizational profiles will be provided later. As a process, I suggest that you read through the postings in one setting (soon) and post 2-3 queries. Then, return to the site in 3-4 days and read the Q&As by others and respond to queries of you. Finally, you may cycle through the materials one more time at a later point.
