Beijing University of Chemical Technology (hereinafter BUCT) is a state key
university directly under the Ministry of Education and a key university of the
national Project 211. It is a multi-disciplinary university with science and engineering
retained as the core disciplines with the addition of arts, the science of law,
management and economics to the core curriculum, and has formed the multi-layer
personnel training pattern ranging from continuing education to undergraduate
education, postgraduate education, doctoral education and the education for
international students.
It consists of 10 colleges (The College of Materials Science and Engineering, The
College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, The College of Information
Science and Technology, The College of Science, The College of Life Science and
Technology, The College of Humanities and Law, The College of Economic
Management, The College of Chemical Engineering., College of Further Education,
College of Vocational Education), offering 24 Doctoral specialties, 50 Master’s
programs and 42 Bachelor programs.
Staffed by 1800 outstanding faculty and researchers, BUCT has 600 full professors
and associate professors, 9 academicians of Chinese Academy of Sciences and
Chinese Academy of Engineering. The current student body of the university is 27900,
including 4,300 doctoral and graduate students and 12,300 undergraduate students. In
addition, there are more than 200 international students and 10，000 students for
further study，1100 students for vocational education.

Admission Requirements:
1. Applicants should have a good school record and be in good health.
2．Age Requirements: The applicants for undergraduate degree should be below 30
years old, for master’s degree below 40 years old, for doctoral degree below 45 years
old, for junior and senior scholar below 50 years old.
3. Applicants for undergraduate programs are required to have an education
equivalent to, or higher than, that for a Chinese senior middle school graduate;
applicants for Master’s degree programs should have a Bachelor’s degree; applicants
for Doctoral degree programs should have a Master’s degree; applicants for further
studies are required to have undergone a two-year college study program; and
applicants for advanced further studies should have been awarded a Master’s degree.
The degree certificate and diploma and school report should be under home
notarization.
4. Applicants for Master’s or Doctoral degree programs should present letters of
recommendation from two teachers with the post of associate professor or higher.
5. Applicants are required to get at least level 4 of HSK.

Return the completed application form for foreign students to Study at BUCT
and 6 passport photos to International Office of BUCT by mail, fax or in person.
Academic Year:
The academic year begins in early September each year. There are two
semesters for each year.
Enrollment:
An Admission Notice and a Visa Application Form for Overseas Students (Form
JW202) will be sent to each successful applicant. Overseas applicants can apply
for an X visa (for foreign students) to China at their local Chinese Embassy or
Consulate with the Admission Notice, passport, Form JW202 and Physical Test
Records (originals) required. Each student should register for the course at the
International Office of BUCT bringing the originals of the above documents
with them within the specified time.
Graduation and Completion of Studies
1.
Undergraduate students and candidates for Master’s or Doctoral degrees
who have passed all examinations and satisfied all other requirements at the end
of their studies will be granted diplomas and awarded Bachelor’s, Master’s or
Doctoral degrees respectively in accordance with the regulations of the PRC for
conferring academic degrees. Those who have failed the requirements will be
granted certificates of completion of studies.

General scholars and senior scholars who have completed their programs will be
granted certificates.
Study Chinese
With the continuing growth of the comprehensive national power of China, with
Beijing’s successful application for hosting the 2008 Olympic Games and China has
more and more communication with the world, and the world is more and more
concerned about and interested in China, which gradually enhances the influence of
China in international affairs. Under this great backdrop, the language becomes the
bridge for international communication and contact, and more and more foreigners
want to learn Chinese year by year.
Since the beginning of 1990’s, the College of International Culture and
Communication of Beijing University of Chemical Technology began recruiting
students who wanted to learn Chinese, and 3000 foreign students had been trained up
to now. For Chinese learning, we have long term advanced study class, short term
advanced study class, accelerated class and vacation class. Every term Chinese classes
of various levels are opened to meet the study demand of foreign students with
different Chinese foundation. Because of abundant and competent teachers and
reasonable teaching arrangement, we are able to train numerous talents of Chinese;
the colorful leisure time life, beautiful campus, convenient traffic conditions and very
advantageous geographical location make the foreign students feel a cheerful and
pleasant life. Welcome the foreign students and overseas Chinese to come to our
University to learn the Chinese language and Chinese culture.

Long-Term Chinese Language Program
It is a non-degree study program focusing on Chinese language and Chinese culture.
The duration of the program is one academic year, but a student can choose whether
to come for one semester or two semesters or more.
a. Timetable: The courses will be given from Monday to Friday, totally about 20
class hours per week.
b. Class Levels: The university offers three level classes for trainees: elementary,
intermediate and advanced Chinese classes. Students will be assigned to suitable
level classes after an entrance Chinese examination. Each class will be about
10-20 students.
c. Curriculum Arrangement:
Required Courses: Intensive Reading, Spoken Language, Listening
Comprehension, Composition, Reading, Listening and Speaking,
Elective Courses: Chinese Character Writing, Chinese Calligraphy, Chinese
Painting, Martial Art, Introduction to China, and Technological Chinese
d. HSK Training class: In order for students to be better prepared for HSK exam,
a regular HSK intensive training class is organized every semester.
e. Language Practice and Chinese Culture Learning Activities: The university
provides all kinds of opportunities for students to practice Chinese and
experience Chinese culture. Besides the elective courses mentioned above,
activities also include but not limit to:
-Linguistic practice trips to scenic spots and places of historical sites around
Beijing
-Gatherings and activities such as watching Peking opera and acrobatics,
and appreciating traditional Chinese music and painting.
-Buddy Program: In order to help international students to adapt to life in China
and to understand Chinese culture, each international student, upon request, can be
paired with one Chinese volunteer student to form a one-to-one pair.

Before coming to China, foreign students should apply for X visa if you plan to study at BUCT for
one year or more, or F visa if you plan for a short study period. For detail information please
consult the local embassy in your country. For a long-term study in China, you’d better apply for
X visa for the purpose of getting residence permit.
Once admitted by the Chinese language program at BUCT, you will receive a Visa Application
form for Study in China (JW202) and BUCT Admission Notice. After arriving at BUCT, you need
to apply for the residence permit within 30 days of entry.
