Maury Lane, President, Burson Campaigns Maury Lane became president of Burson Campaigns, a new corporate issues management unit of Burson-Marsteller on June 1, 2011. Burson Campaigns helps corporations and individuals manage issues critical to reputation, business operations and development. Lane has more than 24 years of communications and public affairs experience and expertise in business development, public relations, strategic messaging, government affairs and world-wide media relations. Prior to joining Burson Campaigns, Lane served as Director of Issues, Crisis and Public Affairs Communications for \ FedEx Corporation. In that role, he led and counseled strategic crisis, issues and public affairs communications planning and execution of those programs for FedEx in 220 counties, seven operating companies and four world-wide regions. Lane’s responsibilities included planning, developing and managing issues and crisis media outreach campaigns, coordinating internal and external messaging related to FedEx Government and Regulatory Affairs, and developing and implementing crisis training programs. Recently, Lane was the lead corporate strategist for FedEx Express’ public affairs initiatives while serving as FedEx’s main spokesperson. Before serving as Director of Issues, Crisis and Public Affairs Communications, Lane was a Corporate Communications Strategist for FedEx Express. During Lane’s tenure, he was responsible for the day-to-day defense of the company’s global reputation. Prior to joining the Memphis-based worldwide provider of transportation, e-commerce and business services, Lane was President and Principal at Hill Country Communications, a fullservice agency serving companies in telecommunications, public affairs, manufacturing, hightech and media fields. At Hill Country Communications, he led business development and operations of practice. Lane also managed client relations and directed campaign strategy and implementation. Prior to creating Hill Country Communication, worked in Austin, Texas for the market-leading Internet software company Vignette, where he directed the global corporate communications department, and was a VP at Fleishman-Hillard. Lane also was the chief strategist and lobbyist for Westinghouse Corp. in its acquisition of CBS and Infinity Broadcasting, which included coordinating activities of 40 firms lobbying municipal, county, state governments in matters of corporate tax, regulatory, labor, pension and trade affairs around the globe. Also, Mr. Lane worked for U.S. Sen. Fritz Hollings as Communications Director where he drove international strategic media planning, including national public relations, public affairs grassroots efforts and media management for the senator's re-election campaign, personal office and Senate Commerce Committee. In August 2012, Mr. Lane became Board Chairman of the National Council on Family Violence, the umbrella organization operating the National Domestic Violence Hotline, National Dating Abuse Helpline and the Texas Council on Family Violence. The Hotline is a vital link to safety for victims of domestic violence and provides crisis intervention, safety planning, information, and referrals to victims of domestic violence, friends and families. NDVH is the only domestic violence hotline in the nation linking victims to more than 4,000 domestic violence programs and resources across the United States, Guam, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Assistance is available in English and Spanish with access to more than 170 languages through interpreter services. The Helpline was created in 2007 as a 24-hour resource for teens and young people ages 13 – 24, who are experiencing dating abuse and those seeking information about healthy dating relationships. NDAH utilizes technologies that young people use most often: phone, private online chat and texting. Trained peer advocates are available for confidential conversations about how to build healthy dating frameworks, identify relationship red flags, and connect to help resources in their local community.
