What is this?
The intent of this document is to help you get aquainted with the people that have
authored and are administering this year’s competition. We hope that you will
feel free to call us by our first names as we interact with you in the competition
room, your workroom, and in social settings. Besides those listed, many other
Hensel Phelps Construction Co. employees will be attending the competition to
help out with the hospitality suite, Career Fair and other tasks; we hope that you
will introduce yourselves to them too. Be assured that even though many of
these people look like highly paid models, they are, in fact, Hensel Phelps
Construction Co. employees!

contacts provided if we can be of assistance with your school work, career
planning or other.
During the competition we won’t be checking emails. Please limit phone calls to
EMERGENCIES (major melt-downs) only. Rod Hammett should be your first

Monica is an Office Engineer for Hensel Phelps Construction Co. in the Northern California
District. During her first internship with Hensel Phelps Construction Co., Monica decided to join
the team upon graduation from Chico State in 2005. She began her full time career on the same
project that she interned on and helped close out the job when it was complete. To date Monica
has helped finish three projects and is currently working in the design phase of her forth.
Monica has not only assisted with the preparation and grading of previous problems, but she
competed in the ASC Reno competition as a student as well. She also takes an active role in
recruiting new hires and interns from Chico State and schools in the Bay Area.

Erik is an Office Engineer for Hensel Phelps Construction Co. in the Southern California District.
After attending the University of Wisconsin-Madison (B.S. Civil Engineering with a Minor in
Construction Engineering & Management) Erik joined the Mid-Atlantic District and worked on the
first ever LEED® certified Federal Bureau of Prisons Institution. At the completion of the project,
Erik transferred to the Southern California District and thoroughly enjoys everything that California
has to offer. On the weekends you are likely to find Erik at the beach or on the slopes.

GerLonnie is a Project Engineer for Hensel Phelps Construction Co. in the Southern California

Construction Management from the Del E. Webb School of Construction at Arizona State
University.
Since joining Hensel Phelps five years ago, she has been responsible for the coordination of the
Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Security subcontractors on two mega projects for the
District. Her current assignment, an Elderly Care Health Center, has presented her with a great
opportunity to manage the office operations/accounting on a small project, thus allowing her to
engage with virtually every subcontractor on the jobsite.
