2. The first page of your notebook in each section behind the divider should
include TITLE OF SECTION, DATES, AND MAP OR LOCATION DESCRIPTION of
the section.
3. The next page of each section will be a FILLED OUT “GERIP” PAGE: to
include copious notes on GEOGRAPHY, ECONOMICS,
RELIGION/INTELLECTUAL IDEAS, AND POLITICS as they relate to the
section.
4. For each section, you will select images to place into the notebook. The
number of images required for each section is listed in the chart above.
IMPORTANT: The images you select will be the ones you choose as the
best representations of that section’s context. So that this notebook can
double as a flash card review as well as a contextual and comparative
analysis, please do the following:
a. Print out a (preferably) color picture of each image and paste the
picture on the blank side of an index card.
b. On the back (lined) side of the index card, list the identifying
information:
 Title or descriptive name of work
 Artist if known
 Period/Date
 Original location
 Materials
 Present location
c. Then tape only one side of the card to the right side of a page in
your notebook, so that when studying you can easily flip over the
card for a flash card review of its information.
5. Then, LABEL all points of importance by writing pertinent formal,
historical, cultural, sociopolitical, gender, patronage, function, and
setting information on the page and by drawing arrows to the pictures for
emphasis and clarity. Applicable TERMS from each section should also be
written, HIGHLIGHTED, and indicated with arrows pointed to the slide.
6. For AT LEAST HALF of all required slides, you must include a PRECEDENT
image to compare and contrast with the current image. LABEL points of
comparison and contrast by drawing arrows as explained above.
**This notebook will be graded as a Major Assignment over each section.**
