Constitution of the United States – Article II

- The Constitution has 7 Articles . Each Article is broken into Sections

- Article II – Executive Branch of Government. – President – 4 Sections

- Section 1 – Terms and Qualifications

- President and VP shall hold a term of 4 years

- Each state shall appoint a Number of Electors – population

- Votes shall be counted by President of Senate

- Pres must be a Natural Born Citizen

- Must be at least 35yrs old

- Must have lived in country for 14yrs prior to election

- President shall be paid for his job. 25,000 – 400,000

- Must take oath of office before taking office

- “I do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the office of the President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect, and defend the

Constitution of the United States.”

- Section 2 – Powers of the President

- President shall be “Commander in Chief” of all US military

- Can grant pardons – except in cases of Impeachment

- Appoints Judges to the Supreme Court, Ambassadors, public

Ministers/Consuls, and Heads of Departments

- Shall appoint replacements for vacancies in Senate.

- Section 3 – Duties of the President

- Must give Congress the “State of the Union”

- Must Execute faithfully the laws of the United States

- Section 4 – Impeachment and Removal

- If impeached, the President, VP, and all officers of the

Presidency shall be removed from office.
