For Fr.4/ Fr.3 Catalog Description: This course offers continued study of the French language and French cultures. Efforts to improve reading and composition skills are based on both contemporary and traditional selections. (UC, CSU) Textbook: Imaginez (Textbook and Workbook/LabManual ) Supplementary Text: 501 French Verbs A good French-English/English-French dictionary AIMS AND OBJECTIVES: General Aims: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. Obligation of the Student 1. 2. 3. To continue familiarity with the more advanced syntactical structure of the French language. To recognize more advanced levels of the spoken language. To continue awareness of the nature of articulating sounds to communicate in French. To understand the written word and interpret its meaning. To be exposed to various aspects of French culture. Develop writing skills in the French language. Attend all class sessions, (a most important factor in foreign language study.) Be prompt in arriving to class, no early departures. Roll will be taken within first 5 minutes of class. You will be counted absent if not present when roll is taken. Complete homework assignments. (1 day late 1 grade lower. Will not accept thereafter.) Take chapter exams, participate in classroom activities, take final exam and do oral presentation. Course Content: Review of French grammar, study of French culture through readings and lectures. Additional compositions and oral presentations.
