25th January 2013: For immediate release Pegasus Juniors Needs Your Help to Secure a Future with £100,000 Cash Injection Fans asked to vote for local club by Budweiser and The FA Pegasus Juniors FC are calling on the local community to help them win a competition with a massive prize of £100,000. The Old School Lane Club is representing the region as the only West Midlands club in the contest, and will be up against seven other clubs from around the UK in the competition, which will be hosted on Facebook by Budweiser and The FA. The players and families of the 23 teams that form the club have already been celebrating following the announcement in December that the club successfully secured £50,000 worth of funding from the Budweiser Club Futures programme. The money was awarded to their grant application to extend and refurbish the bar and kitchen area of the clubhouse, ensuring that the club can further develop the facilities and services they offer to the men’s, women’s and children’s teams who train and play at Old School Lane. It is now up to football fans throughout the UK to decide which club is to receive a massive £100,000 Super Grant top up from the programme, which is backed by FA Cup sponsors Budweiser and The FA. From 28th January until 28th February, 2013, fans can view the clubs’ entry videos and cast their votes on facebook.com/budweiseruk and facebook.com/thefacup*. Everyone at Pegasus is calling on local people to support them. “Whether you’re a football fan or not, we hope that you will support us by voting for us in the competition,” says Alan Savory, one of the Club’s Directors. “This is about much more than football. Everyone is feeling the pinch in these times of austerity, and for the county to receive such a huge cash injection to further benefit the facilities used by hundreds of children, men and women week in week out will be fantastic. It will only take a moment to vote for us, and we’re asking local people to help us and spread the word.” Launched in August 2012, Budweiser Club Futures is investing £1million directly into grassroots football in the UK during the 2012/13 and 2013/14 seasons as part of Budweiser’s FA Cup sponsorship. The programme shines a light on grassroots football and help clubs to help themselves, making each team more sustainable within the community. Budweiser Club Futures ambassador, Alan Pardew, said: “Having started my career at grassroots level, I know just how hard it is to sustain a local club and can appreciate the importance of a programme like Budweiser Club Futures. “The clubs have already received a significant amount of money at the £50,000 stage but this injection would be like a huge lottery win for one club. We had some great applications at the £50,000 stage and had hard decisions to make in choosing the eight winning clubs. This is why we thought it best to hand the £100,000 vote over to the football fans!” To find out more about why you should vote for Pegasus Juniors, please visit www.facebook.com/budweiseruk or www.facebook.com/thefacup from 28th January 2013 The eight winning clubs are: Pegasus Juniors FC – West Midlands AFC Blackpool – North West Blyth Town FC – North East & Yorkshire Evergreen FC – East Raynes Park Vale – London Bardon Hill FC – East Midlands South Park FC – South East Camelford FC – South West - Ends For more information: Please contact Dee Montague on 07533 772285 or by emailing dee@deemontague.com for further information or to arrange interviews and photo opportunities.
