The main responsibilities involve designing course programmes and developing training materials in addition to giving lectures on Accounting and Finance. The work entails determining audit objectives, preparing audit programmes, putting together the human resource necessary for the achievement of the audit objectives, leadership and supervision of the audit team (usually between two and six strong). To achieve the audit objectives the system of internal controls has to be evaluated. The products of the audit process include the audit report or opinion, the internal control report (dwelling on ways that the system of controls could be improved) and the board report (a report to the board of directors covering major strategic and operational business issues and recommendations). The scope of advice is unrestricted but requires a thorough understanding of the operations and systems of each firm.
