Homework Manager to accompany textbook General Information Welcome to ACG 2021. The focus of this course is to develop your ability to understand the meaning of accounting information and use this information for decision making. You will need to understand basic business activities and the accounting concepts used to report those activities. Using accounting information is part of life - like it or not - and the more you know about it, the better the financial decisions you will make whether personal or business. To learn accounting, you must READ and STUDY the textbook and WORK PROBLEMS. You should expect to spend at least 6 hours outside of class each week on this course. ALWAYS ATTEND CLASS PREPARED. Nothing substitutes for regular class attendance and daily preparation. You are encouraged to ask questions and participate in class discussions. Please refer to the TCC Academic Policies – Attendance. I am available during my office hours and by appointment. Please remember to be polite to your classmates and me by turning off cellular phones and pagers, being on time, not leaving early, not going in and out during class, not talking at inappropriate times, etc. Please refer to the TCC Student Code of Conduct. Grading and Assignments The semester grade will be determined from 4 unit tests and a cumulative final exam each worth 17% of your course grade. Assignments turned in using Homework Manager will account for 15% of your course grade. The following grading scale will be used: A = 100-90% B = 89-80% C = 79-70% D = 69-60% F = 59-0% Homework assignments consist of questions, exercises and problems found in the textbook at the end of each chapter. You are required to use a pencil and eraser for tests. You may want to use a calculator on tests so be sure to have your own calculator, I cannot let you share calculators on tests. Withdrawal Policy You may be withdrawn for non-attendance if you miss as many as 3 class meetings. Arriving late or leaving early may be considered an absence. It is your responsibility to officially withdraw from the course if it should become necessary. The last day to withdraw this term is November 8th. Failure to officially withdraw will result in an “F”. Third attempts must receive a grade. Please refer to the TCC Course Guidelines. Make-up Work If you miss class, contact a classmate to get the assignments and notes so that you will be prepared upon your return. Late assignments will not be accepted. Make-up tests will be given during the last class period. Only one test may be made up. NO EXCEPTIONS!!!. If test 1 is missed the final exam grade will be used for the test 1 grade and this will be counted as the one make-up test allowed, so tests 2, 3 & 4 may not be made up. The final exam must be taken at the scheduled time. Please refer to the TCC Course Guidelines. Incompletes are very seldom given and must be approved by Dean Benedict. Documentation will be required. Please do not ask for special treatment concerning these policies. TCC Mission Statement Tallahassee Community College is an open-admission, comprehensive community college.
