OUTLINE COF 4 Course: Corporate Finance Code: Credits (ECTS): Instructor: Classes: Aims: COF 3 4 Candidate of Economics, Assoc. Prof. Fedunin A.S. One 2 hours lecture, one 2 hours seminar (per group) per week This course aimed to illustrate the students the various responsibilities of the corporation’s financial managers and show how to tackle many of the problems that these managers are expected to solve. In the course examined the problems concerning as background of corporate finance (role of financial manager and the financial markets in which the manager operates, analysis of the financial statements as an essential part of financial monitoring process) as more advanced areas: risk and financing, capital structure, financial decisions. After the studying this course students are expected to know the following: Some basic concepts of modern finance and role of financial manager; Financial statements interpretation (making a distinction as between market and book value, as between cash flows and profits) Summarize the large volume of accounting information using the principles of ratio analysis, understand some key measures of firm’s performance How to value long-term streams of cash flows and how to have a deal with the different investment opportunities How firms issue securities as an important source of financing What is the main approaches to the capital structure and dividend policy of firm The mechanics of cash collection and disbursement.
