~~RECOMMENDATIONS~~
**I have placed a serial number on every instrument and recorded
it on a master list. We are fortunate to have instruments 
**I have recommended to the student musician that they place a
note card in their case with their name and a contact phone
number.
**I highly recommend an instrument never be left in a car in plain
view even if the car is locked. Instruments have been stolen this
way.
**If an instrument is given out in good standing & then ceases to
function or is broken. The student will need to take the
instrument to a music repair shop & have it fixed & pay the fee.
***Parents, I have to say please allow your child to practice their
instrument at home and support them. This is homework just like
any other subject. If they are not allowed to have a time set aside to
practice at home on the weekend or in the evening they will not be
able to learn the songs to play and they will Fail their Scales
Quizzes in class. Each student must display by playing their
instrument publicly in class the ability to master the scales for their
instrument.
**If the instrument is loud or disruptive to your evening or daily
schedule please map out a plan or practice time that works for
everyone. Maybe the plan could be right after school and before
dinner before everyone is home or a convenient weekend time
while some family members are occupied with other activities.
** We want them to succeed at playing their instrument but they
will not without your support and willingness to allow them to
have practice time at home.
** Please keep the Cost Sheet for a reference guide. **The Policy
stands and is in effect that “Lost, Stolen or Damaged” Instrument
Repair & Replacement Costs are Binding on the Student/Parent
while the Instrument is in the use & possession of the student.
**Instrument Replacement Costs have been given in the event
your instrument is Lost, Stolen or Damaged beyond repair.
Damages caused by you must be repaired by you!!
**These prices reflect district cost if we have to replace the
instrument. You may also find an instrument suitable for
replacement at Sam Ash Music, Cassell’s Music on McClay Ave.
in San Fernando or at Baxter Northup on Ventura Blvd. or any
Guitar Center.
**Music Students- Don’t ever let your instrument out of your sight
here at school and never assume someone else is watching it for
you; this also applies to school buses and city buses too. Keep your
eye on your instrument at all times! If you need to leave your
instrument in a safe location during the school day ask one of your
classroom teachers if you can leave it with them and that you will
pick it up at the end of the school day. You can also leave your
instrument by my desk for safekeeping at the end of class time.
The P.E. dept. allows instruments to be left in their office as well.
