III. COURSE DESCRIPTION:
The course will focus on music literature from Gregorian chant of the medieval period through the modern period. Students will be introduced to styles of individual composers as well as those of the different eras of music history. This subject will further introduce the student to the development of music in Asia including the Philippines.
IV. COURSE OBJECTIVE
A. COGNITIVE DOMAIN
1. Identify varied activities in line with music instruction
2. Discuss the important development in music literature from the medieval to the modern period
3. Describe the basic materials and properties of music
4. Explain the differences of the characteristics of each of period of music
5. Describe factors affecting music
6. Describe the classification of music
7. Enumerate the different chants
8. Name the prominent musicians in the history of music and their contribution
9. Distinguish between Asian music and western music
10. Compare the music of the mountain people and the lowlands in the Philippines
B. AFFECTIVE DOMAINS
1. Practice cooperation in group activities
2. Show enthusiasm, patience and artistic sense in planning music projects
3. Show interest in the varied musical activities
4. Appreciate Asian and Western music through listening and film viewing

5. Draw a musical instrument and label the parts accurately
