The vacancy will be effective from 14th May 2012 and the current post holder is expected to return to work in January 2013, subject to final confirmation. We are looking for the successful candidate to have experience of working within higher education and a strong interest in the recruitment and admission of international students. After completion of any necessary training and development, the post holder will be expected to travel alone for up to three weeks at a time during the period of appointment, meeting with applicants and the University’s overseas representatives. JOB DESCRIPTION Responsible to: Malcolm Taylor, Head of International Recruitment Main Purpose of Job: To form part of the International Recruitment Office team whose main objective is to increase the number of full-fee paying international students studying at the University. The successful applicant will be expected to carry out the full range of activities involved in international recruitment. Principal Responsibilities and Duties: 1. To achieve recruitment targets in designated markets. 2. Organisation of, and attendance at, UK and overseas recruitment events (up to 16 weeks a year overseas). 3. To meet and liaise with overseas recruitment agents. 4. To visit overseas and UK institutions and identifying possible collaborative opportunities for the University 5. To maintain and develop links with international recruitment agents. 6. To adhere to sales and recruitment procedures. 7. To ensure processing of overseas applications is in line with agreed procedures and time frames. 8. To produce trip reports within 7 days of returning. 9. To provide advice on overseas qualifications to the University’s academic staff. 10. To assist international students on campus where necessary. 11. To provide reports on enquiries, applications, offers, deposits, acceptances, visas and enrolments. 12. Liaison with external agencies e.g. British Council 13. To assist in the development of international literature/promotional material 14. Maintenance of databases and files. 15. CONDITIONS OF SERVICE The successful applicant will be appointed to the post of International Recruitment Officer in the service of the University of Glamorgan. CONTINUOUS SERVICE Your continuous service will commence on your first day of employment at the University of Glamorgan. The University does not recognise continuous service with other employers in any respect except in accordance with the Redundancy Payments (Continuity of Employment in Local Government, etc) (Modification) Order as amended. GRADE/SALARY The post is graded Grade F and the salary is currently £31,948 - £37,012 per annum, inclusive. Common practice is to appoint people to the minimum of the grade. TENURE This post is fixed term until for up to 1 year or upon the return of the substantive post holder. PROBATION New entrants to the service of the University of Glamorgan are appointed subject to a probationary period of not normally more than 12 months, during which time we will seek to confirm their suitability for the post. MEDICAL CLEARANCE All posts in the University of Glamorgan are offered subject to medical clearance.
