Job Description July 2013 Job title: Regional Fundraising Executive (Oxford) Department: Fundraising Team: Regional Fundraising Job holder: Managed by: Head of Fundraising Development Aim Create, own and lead the Crisis Skylight Oxford fundraising strategy and programme within the context of the national Fundraising Strategy and Crisis’ five-year Strategic Plan. Use your contacts, professionalism and passion to build on and further develop an enviable fundraising programme across Oxford that attracts the support of community groups, individuals, local charitable trusts, local companies and the statutory sector. Dimensions Income target of £100,000 (2013/14), growing annually. No direct line reports, but may be responsible for recruitment, training and supervision of up to two volunteers an any given time. Monitoring of income and expenditure against specific budget lines. Line managed by the Head of Fundraising Development in London, but reporting to the Director of Skylight Oxford. Circumstances 35 hours per week; Willing and able to travel across the UK, particularly to London, with occasional overnight stays; Occasional evening and weekend work. Time off in lieu will be given in accordance with Crisis TOIL policy. Salary £33,538 per annum Department Chart Chief Executive Director of Fundraising Head of Fundraising Development Head of Corporate & Events Head of Individual Giving Trusts & Statutory Community & Events Direct Marketing Regions Corporates Supporter Services Major Donors Principle Accountabilities Create, deliver and own fundraising strategies that will excite and motivate regional donors to support this high profile and innovative Crisis Skylight centre. Ensure that annual Crisis Skylight Oxford fundraising targets are met or exceeded and that spending is kept within agreed budgets. Maintain and grow existing donor relationships, providing excellent donor care across many different areas of fundraising. Work closely with the national Head of Fundraising Development through planned meetings and reporting, supported by the Director of Crisis Skylight Oxford. Support and develop the Regional Development Board, administrating quarterly meetings and acting as primary point of contact for Board members and the Chair. Provide account management support for national funding partners led by the central office team, but with an interest in supporting Skylight Oxford through their local office fundraising activities. Additional Accountabilities Build a mutually beneficial working partnership with separate charity Arts at The Old Fire Station, with whom Crisis share the Old Fire Station, following the agreed Partnership Protocol. With the Director of Crisis Skylight Oxford, plan and deliver high profile events to help build Crisis’ credentials in the region, attract visitors to Skylight Oxford, and create networking and funding opportunities. Build a network of regional community fundraising prospects and volunteer support for national and regional campaigns. Exchange good practice and fundraising knowledge with other regional fundraisers, initially in Newcastle. Attend regular fundraising meetings in London with the central fundraising team. Organise and attend bi-monthly fundraising meetings with the Head of Fundraising Development. Organise and attract participants for national and regional Crisis fundraising events. Develop and maintain administrative systems to ensure that all regional activity is coordinated with central fundraising activity (to include data management through the central Raisers Edge database). Develop effective working relationships across Crisis, particularly with the Crisis central Fundraising team and Skylight Oxford team. Identify and collect local data that will support all future fundraising applications and donor reporting. Work with Crisis’ homeless members on fundraising initiatives such as events and meetings, and be part of the team which manages our Member Ambassadors. Be passionate about Crisis’ work and be able to speak knowledgably about homelessness and Crisis’ approach. General To develop and maintain an understanding of the charity’s work and the needs and circumstances of homeless people. To comply with all Crisis policies and procedures. To carry out any other duties that may reasonably be required in the light of the main purpose of the job. Person Specification Essential 1. Minimum two years fundraising experience, preferably in Oxfordshire. 2. Proven ability to create, develop and implement a successful fundraising strategy and plan. 3. Evidence of achieving annual fundraising targets, maintaining an acceptable ROI and managing budgets. 4. Experience generating funds from a range of supporters, including community groups, charitable trusts, individuals, local companies and the statutory sector. 5. Proven ability to develop excellent relationships with funders and experience of networking with funders at a senior level. 6. Excellent communication skills across all levels, both written and verbal, including presentation skills. 7. Ability to carry out in-depth prospect research and present relevant findings in a clear manner. 8. Ability to work sensitively and constructively with Crisis’ homeless members on fundraising initiatives. 9. Ability to work on own initiative, remote from central fundraising team. 10. Ability to develop effective working relationships with colleagues across the organisation. 11. Commitment to Crisis’s purpose and values including equality and social inclusion Desirable 12.
