Aggression Questions
Read the assigned pages in your textbook and answer the following questions. Answer the
questions clearly and thoroughly (though use no more than 3 sentences per answer) as I will
collect and grade them. If possible, type your answers.
1. Describe three pieces of evidence that aggression has a biological component. Here are
some hints to jog your memory (breeding, twins, hormones, amygdala)
2. You book describes the relationship between testosterone and aggression to be a two-way
street. Explain what the author means.
3. Why do some researchers predict that global warming will lead to an increase in violent
acts in the US? How does this relate to the frustration-aggression principle?
4. You book discusses the fact that there is a correlation between violent behavior in
children and the lack of a father in the home. It is possible that the lack of a father figure
causes aggression in children. This is an A causes B explanation. Can you think of a B
causes A explanation, or a C causes both A and B?
5. Clearly, most children see a tremendous number of violent acts on TV, but does viewing
violence on TV actually increase the likelihood of committing a violent act? Explain
citing research from the text.
6. According to the research presented in the chapter, does viewing pornography increase
one’s likelihood of committing sexual assault? Explain.
