APA REFERENCES PAGE FORMAT
Like all the pages of the paper, the References page is numbered in the header space at the right. If you are
including a ‘running head,’ place it at the right on the same line, in capital letters. (The ‘running head’ is a
concise version of your title used to identify each page.)
An APA reference list is headed with the word References. Centre it as shown below, capitalizing only the R.
Do not italicize or underline it. Do not use bold or oversize type.
Margins of the References page are standard.
Sources are arranged in alphabetical order by first letter. Do not group sources by type, but list them all
together. Bibliography entries are not numbered. Note that the first line of each entry begins at the left-hand
margin, but the following lines must be indented.
The entire References page is double-spaced with no extra spacing at any point, even under the heading.
