Pharos University, Alexandria Faculty of Financial & Administrative Sciences Instructor: Schedule: Course Title: Human Resource Management Prof. Dr. Tarek Taha Assistance: Ms. Alaa Abou Elaelaa Wednesday 8.30 – 10.30 AM email: Dr.tarek.ahmed@pua.edu.eg Course Objectives This course is effectively designed to achieve the following comprehensive and related objectives 1) Explain what human resource management (HRM) is. 2) Understanding how HRM relates to the management process 3) Describe examples of how all managers can use HRM concepts and techniques. 4) Illustrate the HR responsibilities of line and staff HR managers. 5) Analyze the HRM roles in formulating and executing company strategy. 6) Identify the steps in the strategic management process and HR scorecard approach 7) Discuss the nature of job analysis, including what it is and how it’s used. 8) Write job descriptions, including summaries and job functions, using the Internet as well as student judgment. 9) Understanding the main techniques used in employment planning and forecasting. 10) Effectively recruit job candidates. 11) Recognize the main types of selection interviews and interview a job candidate. 12) Evaluate the training and developing employees’ techniques. 13) Analyze the basic factors determining pay rates and other trends in compensation. 14) Discuss employ fair disciplinary practices. 15) Present the main features of at least three major pieces of labor legislation. Course Description This course is divided into five major modules, composed of regular chapters supplemented by technology guides. Individual participation by students in class room is strongly encouragement. The student is expected to read the materials prior attending the class.
