Prerequisite & Enrollment Acct 211 and 212 and Finance 313 3. Course Objective and Description This is a required course for all business majors and it provides students with an understanding of financial management in corporate environment. Topics include capital budgeting, sources and forms of long-term financing, financial structure, cost of capital, equity management and mergers and acquisitions. 4. Examinations and Grading: a. There will be four in-class examinations including the final examination. b. There are no make-up examinations. Absence from a scheduled examination without approval of the instructor and a valid written excuse will result in a grade of zero. Approval to be absent from an examination will be granted only in the case of extreme personal emergency. If approval is granted by the instructor, the student has to take the exam on the other day. To pass the course, students should take all four examinations on the scheduled dates. Missing one exam will result in failure in this course. c. The examination will be closed-book and based on assigned readings, lectures, and homework problems. d. Calculator may be used during examinations. e. Grading for the course will be as follows: Examination #1:100 points Examination #2:100 Examination #3:100 Examination #4:100 400 points Your Percentage= total score earned over four examination / 400. A: A-: B+: B: B-: C+: 95 – 100% 90 – 94% 87- 89% 84 - 86% 80 - 83% 77- 79% C: C-: D+: D: D-: 74 -76% 70 - 73% 67- 69% 64 - 66% 60 - 63% For example, if your percentage in this course is 85%, your grade is going to be “B”. If your percentage is below 60%, your grade is “F”. 5. Attendance It is vital that you attend every class session to participate in class discussion to learn the material. The attendance would be checked. If a student does not attend more than two classes without instructors’ approvals, he or she would lose 30 point out of 400. 6. Reading & Homework Students should complete readings prior to class. Homework will be chapter review and self-test problems at the end of chapter and assigned problems that will be announced in class.
