3. Course Objective and Description
This is a required course for all business majors and it provides students with an understanding of
financial management in corporate environment. Topics include capital budgeting, sources and
forms of long-term financing, financial structure, cost of capital, equity management and mergers
and acquisitions.
4. Examinations and Grading:
a.
There will be four in-class examinations including the final examination.
b.
There are no make-up examinations. Absence from a scheduled examination without
approval of the instructor and a valid written excuse will result in a grade of zero.
Approval to be absent from an examination will be granted only in the case of extreme
personal emergency. If approval is granted by the instructor, the student has to take the
exam on the other day. To pass the course, students should take all four examinations on
the scheduled dates. Missing one exam will result in failure in this course.
c.
The examination will be closed-book and based on assigned readings, lectures, and
homework problems.
d.
Calculator may be used during examinations.
e.
Grading for the course will be as follows:
Examination #1:100 points
Examination #2:100
Examination #3:100
Examination #4:100
