Paper style (Heading 1, Calibri 14pt Bold, 18pt before, 6pt after)

In this template, you can find a definition of Microsoft Word styles for every part of your paper. The body of the text uses the Normal style, which is formatted in Calibri 11 pt, with the paragraph justified, single line-spacing and 6pt spacing after paragraph.

We recommend using three heading levels at most.

1.1

Language (Heading 2, Calibri 12pt Bold, 12pt before, 6pt after)

The paper may be written in Portuguese, Spanish or English, but after final acceptance, an English version must be delivered.

1.2

Page setup

Page set-up is DIN A4 format, single column, margins all equal at 2 cm on left, right, top and bottom of the page 1 . Do not indent the beginning of the lines. The paper length is 6 to 8 pages for complete papers and 2

to 4 pages for mini-papers, including figures and tables. The document must not have page numbering.

The first page header is different from the remaining page headers. Please follow this setup.

1.2.1

File format

Papers are submitted as unsecured PDF files. Please take care in setting the PDF generating software to maximum quality output (In Adobe Acrobat, select “High Quality” or “Press Quality”). Papers with lowquality figures are more likely to be rejected.

The template should not be modified. Authors tend to change margins, fonts or font size, paragraph spacing to adjust the paper to the maximum number of pages. Reviewers will be instructed to reject papers which are based on a modified CIMODE conference template.

1 If possible, avoid footnotes, but if you need to use them, insert them with Microsft Word’s specific function, use

Calibri 10pt and make them as short as possible

2.

Figures, tables and other elements

Figures or other graphic elements should be set into the body of the text, left alligned, and as close as possible to the text where they are referenced. Figures layout should be in line with text. The caption should use “Cimode Caption” style – Calibri, 9 pt, as shown in figure 1.

Figure 1: Title of figure

Text should not flow around figures.

The caption of tables should be above the table. The style of the caption is “Cimode Caption” style – Calibri

9pt. The tables should be centred, as shown in table1.

Table 1: Title of table

Table Heading (Calibri 11pt, bold), left aligned)

Table Text (Calibri 10pt), left aligned)

Lists should be bulleted and indented as shown below, using the List Style

 List item 1

 Second level list item 1

 Second level list item 2

 List item 2

3.

Referencing

Referencing in this conference will use the Harvard Style. In this style, in-text citations use the author-date system. References are listed at the end of the paper in alphabetical order by author.

If no author name is available, the reference is cited by title and date, and included in the alphabetical list using the title. If no date is available, the citation must include “n.d.”.

There are many documents on Harvard referencing that can be found on the web. The author is directed, for example, to the Anglia Ruskin University website, (Guide to the Harvard Style of Referencing, 2010), or to the guide puiblished by De Montfort University (The Harvard system of referencing, 2009).

Quotations should be given in the “Quote” style, for instance

“The reference list should include details for everything that you cite in your assignment. It should be

in alphabetical order by author with all the different types of material in one sequence” (Guide to the

Harvard Style of Referencing, 2010)

4.

Submission

According to the instructions given on http://www.design.uminho.pt/cimode2016/ , the first version of the paper must omit the author names and affiliation as well as any other identification elements. Papers that do not follow this instruction will be rejected.

The file should be named after the paper title (use only the first three or 4 significant words if the title is long). Do not include author names in the filename.

Before proceeding with the submission, please verify that your submission complies to the items listed in the submission checklist, available at the author section of the Cimode website.

For questions, please send email to cimode.informatica@gmail.com.
