ABOUT THE CLASS
The course is the only class at the NTNU EMBA program tries to mingle the Tou rism/Hospitality
with Management. In order to let the students know this largest industries speedily, this course is
designed and based on the Ten Video Cases (Interviews and Case Studies of Elite Enterprises:
Taiwan and Mainland China ) which were shot by Gordon ’s team for the past four years.
Besides the video case studies and the team presentation/discussion for each of the cases ; in
this course, field trips are also planned. This planning is intended to connect the current industries’
development and their prospects in Global/Taiwan competition with students’ learning. Finally since
this course is only a 9-week class, students should have preparations for intense team discussion,
team conflicts, and professional presentations!

COURSE REQUIREMENT (temp.)
Very interactive and dynamic lecturing and discussion is my personal teaching
style. Accordingly, all the classes are undertaking in a seminar tone. You are
required to study all the weekly assignments before the class and in the begi nning of each class I will conduct a cold-call.
Interactive and no
absence
Except for emergent and acceptable reasons, no any excuses for absence are
allowed. 10 points will be taken off from the tot al score for each absence.
Students should be familiar with the fundamental management theories and
general functions of management.
Theoretical background
For the purpose of team discussion, team build-up is the basic element of this
class. Each team is made up of 3or4 students; each student has to orga nize/participate in one team no later than 03/Nov/2013.
After the team is organized, members of the team should further select one
student as the team’s leader and select one name for your team, in addition,
team is required to sit together while in the class.

03/Nov/2013 in typed form, and be sure to mark the leader of each team.

Norm 】 : For all the discussion in the classroom, each student is
required to identify themselves before giving any comments, such as:
“ My name is XXX, I am representing the team XXX ”.
This designing intends to enhance the team cohesiveness and also for the
convenience for Captain to count the score (each comment or question in the
classroom or on fb, individual gets 2 score, teammates also get 1).

Anyone against the rule will get a yellow card ( 3 scores of team will be taken
off), for accumulating 3 yellow cards, 1 red card will be given and his/her team is
required to sing a song on the street for every classmates in the following week.
…For each class, Captain should prepare one whistle, four yellow cards and
two red cards please show your whistle and cards whenever is nece ssary……
Due to the complicate nature of this class, except for the team presentation for
elite enterprises, each team is required to assist and organize the class for 2
field trips (2 teams), FB club management (1 team), and Gung Ho Angel time (1
team).
